It still amazes me that such a basic item like a chain can vary so much in terms of wear, or to put it another way it is clealy possible to make a chain that will last a very long time, so why wouldn't you? I well remember from my motorcycling youth having to adjust the primary chain on one of the bikes I owned every week and replace it every 3 months. On one occaision when seeking another replacement the LBS had none on the shelf but to help me out with the urget need (long journey planned and adjustment on the limit) they offered me a length of racing spec. chain of the same brand which was normally not available retail. Never needed to adjust it again for all the time and many miles till I sold the bike!One XX1 is currently at 2500kms on emtb still having 0.00mm wear.
