I still find it hard to believe DJI will support 3rd party batteries. Is this actually confirmed as happening or just rumor ?

It just makes little sense for them to not sell it as a system and force as such like Bosch.

Let's be honest there really is no benefit and all downsides for DJI to allow it. Any issues with the battery makes them look bad regardless.

Which battery partners of DJI? Thought those are their own ones..

The early details of the DJI did seem to suggest that it could be supplied to other bike brand as a complete eco system.

DJI Release the Avinox drive system not just the motor and are heavily promoting it as a system.

The battery and BMS is a key part of any E system. DJIs benefit today is power, fast charging and overall power delivery over the others and that' not all motor. It's as much as a result of the battery and its BMS all taken from djis years of experience making batteries for their drones.

DJI released Avinox with two battery options as well. That's all engineering cost and every single part of their advertising, manuals and even the user guide talks about this as a system with all th DJI components.

IV said it before DJI does not do working with others well and I just don't see it makes any sense for them to sell just a motor and display and then have the downsides of someone else's battery, BMS and charging.

It's a system and DJI will want you fully in their system.

Seriously considering one, coming from the RM Altitude PP, looking for something lighter and was facing the reality it would mean less power/range, but the Amflow could be the best of both...?

DJI doesn’t make batteries anyway does it?

The ‘engineering’ and build of the battery was likely done by one of their battery partners to a DJI requirement.

If Avinox is going to be adopted by bike manufacturers, particularly smaller lower volume ones, then they’ll likely need to be able to access more than one battery design in 2 capacities.

This is new territory for DJI, they can’t vertically integrate as much as they have with the Amflow (or any of their drone products) as they’re working with other companies as a supplier.

Whatever, they’ve done a great job with the Amflow and I wait with interest who else starts putting the Avinox in their bikes.

There is no range extender, but the 800Wh battery recharges really fast. Like 10-85% in 90 mins. So a lunch break near a power source would extend your riding significantly.

Theres lots of wild routes here at mountains where I live with no power sources near available, also I'd rather prefer not depending on that when I plan a route I like. I like the feeling of getting lost deep in nature away of civilization, far out of reach of power sources. This would put me off. I'm ok with the battery not being replaceable, but not having a way of using a portable source of power to ensure range cover on long and harder trips is a deal breaker to me. Not to mention when the built-in battery starts to wear in time.

I have actually no list. Just got interested in the Amflow when I saw it's overall specs for that price, but I was initially expecting, at least, a way to use an external portable battery. Not that I'm gonna use it always, but I want to have that option for occasional long trips.

Yes I too like the wild country 800 would do me though ,I'm not young anymore .Few rides I would like to do but would need another 15 miles out of battery. Then I would be looking at longer still probably. Sixty miles range would be plenty for me. Good luck

Then I'd look at a bike with a removeable battery, so you can bring a spare. A battery extender doesn't add a lot of range.

I carry an inverter in my car and recharge my battery at my car, during lunch, when on an all day ride away from a power source.

Look at the spacing between the frame and the shock on the PL Pro. You could only fit a very small battery. I don't think they'd bother.

Only if it follows current design cues and looks like a water bottle. They could produce something like a Tamiya RC car battery (remember those?) that would have a much lower profile.

It really needs to look like a bottle. It would spoil aesthetics, IMO. Look at the extenders on most EMTBs.

You won't be able to see it while you are riding, and that's the most important part of owning a bike, right? I mean, if aesthetics are more important how do you explain all the Haibikes out there?

I always thought you need to let battery cool down at least an hour before charging. Then another 90 minutes to get a half decent charge. I could have a 3 course lunch and a decent 40 winks afterwards. I could handle that I suppose .

When I was seriously racing RC cars we would charge the batteries then discharge them and charge them right back up. The idea was to heat cycle the battery to bring them up to temp for the race trying to get any little advantage you could. I tend to treat my bike battery the same, I’ll ride it down to 15-20% or so and charge it right back up.

Not a clue about batteries to be honest just that it's been said on here many times not to charge after a ride. I have usually had enough by time battery is done . Saying that Ft Augustus then up and over the Corrieyairack to Melgarve bothy and back to Fort Augustus . That's my limit with a 700 battery. 20 miles if it is

I don't care much for aesthetics when this drops in favor of functionality. Anyway, for me it doesn't mean for the extender to be a piece attached to the frame. I'd be fine with an external battery I can carry in my backpack, just plugged with a cable to the emtb. This would give me at least more freedom on to planning longer trips.

A 10S 2P pack of LG M58 cells would give 400Wh and should be easy to make fit a bottle holder on the PL Pro.

I’m sure DJI will bring one, but I think 250 Wh will be enough and a good compromise

There is a company in Australia that does aftermarket Extender Batteries for Shimano, because Shimano doesn't have them. You just have to install a new battery wiring harness. The extender then just parallels off the positive and negative 36 volts bus.

I'm sure they'll build a harness for the DJI System if it proves popular.

Just got the email from Amflow that the bike is officially available in France. Slightly weird that there are only 4 shops listed as retailers for the entire country. Maybe most shops are too full on inventory to consider adding another brand.
