Help!
I have just purchased my first EMTB a
E160 500 and the display is the all in one
5003 and it does not have E-TUBE connection by Bluetooth, I would like to upgrade to a sc-em800 and separate switch ,
Please can someone advise what complete parts I need switch , display , cables , connectors etc and if I would be able to do conversion myself

thanks

if you want to just fiddle with the settings via bluetooth EW-EN100 might be the way to go, its only £60 and setup your bike with the bluetooth and then clip in your old monitor, as far as im aware all the settings are saved in the motor and not in the display, will cost you roughly £350/400 for an upgraded display when you can do it for 60

You'd need an SD300 -> SD50 adapter and a short SD50 cable to do this.

Ive been trying to get a SD305 adapter for a while, no stock in the country. Shimano Australia is saying another 12 week wait, some German and UK retailers have stock but are not allowed to ship to Australia... Last resort may be to use a shipping forwarder, 50 euro for a 15 euro part!

It’s a bit misleading as it mentions etube on the product page for the E5000 yet you’re not able to connect it? I’m looking to upgrade the display too so will be interested to see how you get on. I’m not sure about the connectivity as you currently have 1 cable for this E5000 unit but the updated display will require 2 as you have the separate switch unit. Does that just connect to the display unit? If not where does it con too?

The E5000 is SD50 (older style cables) and the E5003 is SD300, and both only have a single port. Depending on which display you go with, you'll have 4 ports (either SD50 or SD300). E7000 and E8000 are 4 SD50 ports. SC-EM800 is 4 SD300 ports.

If you go with the newer display, you'll either need a mode switch compatible with SD300 or an SD50-SD300 converter/adapter and a short SD300 cable. In either case, you'll need a SD300 cable since the new SD300 compatible mode switch does not have a built-in cable.

Similarly, if you have an SD50 cable coming into your motor today, you'll need another converter/adapter and short SD300 cable to connect it to the EM800.

sorry yes I meant E5003 not the E5000. Great so the shopping list is
SC-EM800 display
SW-EM800-L switch
EW-SD300 cable

Please keep us updated. Looking to do the same.

At the moment its on pause. Cost to upgrade is about £300. To be honest I'm just enjoying riding the bike as it is. But its a shame we cant play around with the settings unless we have this Bluetooth connectivity. E7000 is slightly cheaper so maybe a better option

Hello all ,

so I have been riding my e160 now for 5 ish months now and mainly use eco and trail and I odd occasion I use turbo I thought it was not much better than trail, I could not connect to E tube as mentioned in above post so I decided enough is enough and purchased the SC-EM 800 computer and cable and switch ( still waiting for switch) and I fitted computer and connected to E tube and surprise surprise the setting from the factory are ECO running 49Nm, trail 85Nm, turbo 85Nm ,so I’m so glad I purchased upgrade computer/display , I can now tweak the setting and I will be able to get better range now .

Hi,
What was the cost? Was it hard to fit and does it have a switch for the front headlight?
Did it come with all required cables?
Cheers,
Tex

At the mo I only got the display I’m waiting for the switch to come ,
So easy unplug cable from stock controller and plug into empty hole and turn power on .
i also ordered a 440mm sd300 cable for the switch to the display controller, I used the bike today without the switch as you can swapped modes by holding button on bottom for a couple seconds

cost display. £185
Cable. £25
Switch. £95

I note that my e160 500 with EP8 and 5003 display only uses two of the three ports on the motor. One goes to the display the other to the rear sensor (I would assume; where else could it go).

Can I plug a DFly (EW-WU 111) B'tooth Unit into the spare motor port and communicate with it via BT? (I would use SD50 out of the EW-WU 111 then an adapter to a SD300 wire into the motor). One issue I consider: Would it need external power or would it slave from the battery via the motor?

Today I used the wire that was connecting to the 5003 display into an adapter (EW-AD305) to SD50 wire to the EW-WU 111. I could then connect to the motor via STUnlocker to change power settings.

It will not connect via E Tube which says there is a compatibility issue and one connection (EP8 or EW-WU 111) needs to be disconnected and it suggests the one highlighted in red, which is the EW-WU 111.

So STunlocker with an EW-WU 111 wired in is simple solution if you just want to change your power settings at home and still use the 5003 display.
