Hi guys,

My bike has developed a creak from the shock/linkage area. Occurs when the bike flexes, making me think it's the shock.

Have had bearings out and all greased and replaced. Have also taken out shock, and mounting hardware obviously, and done the same.

It's better than it was but not totally gone. So yeah, when it flexes, or even, under load on climbing, it's not a pleasant noise.

Any ideas appreciated.

I don't know if it would help but I thought my linkage was creaking and it ended up being the dropper post where it inserts into the frame had dust in there causing the noise. It comes back after a couple weeks of riding then I have to clean it again.

Any success with diagnosing this?

My SX Race started making clicking/creaking/cracking noises when the swingarm flexes laterally. Cleaned and regreased everything and no luck.

I was chasing a rear creak on my sx. Found it was the black bolt that holds the rear derailleur, that the rear axle slides through had loosened. Tightened it up but it came loose again so I added loctight to the threads. All good now.

Could be the seat clamp on the top of the post, I found if my Fox Transfer is not real tight the clamp creaks when I bounce on the saddle to test the rear shock and it sounds horrible

This was where my main creak was coming from also. Took a while to find. Also found that my seat post collar is starting to crack causing a little bit of flex in the seat post area, that was also creaking.
