Not sure if this is a general issue on Giant bikes, but on mine, the cable from the controller to the frame had two issues. First, the cable was maxed out when the bars were turned full right. First day I had the bike, I lifted the front end, the bars swung full right, thought I had ripped the cable out of the controller.
Second, when not stretched, the cable was loose and hanging down, easy to snag on an errant branch.
So, the simple solution was relocating the controller to the other side of the brake. Enough slack to zip tie the cable to the bars as well as the brake line, and to cover the 45 degree neck I installed.
Now, the controller is a little farther away from the grip, personally, I notice no difference in operation.
I think this is a cleaner, and better protected set up than stock.
