So recently i swapped out my rear shock to coil and wished I'd done it sooner.
Now looking at fitting either
Marzocchi Z1 coil or DVO Diamond.
Anyone recommend or have experience of either ?
I come in at around 95 kgs so a firm spring going by the charts
The DVOs come in a near match blue to my frame so 1 point for them ( as I'm a bit of a bike tart )

Have spare Rockshox Zeb Ultimate A2 which I'm thinking of putting Vorsprung Smashpot V2 coils in, but a lot of weight gain from my current MY23 Lyrik Ultimate (which I prefer to the Zeb).

Wonder how the coiled Zeb would compare with the Marzocchi Z1 coil and DVO Diamond ...

There a video out at the moment from Jeff Kendell about the Z1 Coil.

I have had bomber z1 coil for a few years, great fork. Liked it a lot.
Set it and forget it. Maybe not the best if You are very fast rider and need a lot of support at the bottom of the stroke (long jumps, big drops etc.).
For trail riding it is a brilliant fork.
Regards

Bit old for long jumps and big drops now 😕
But cheers seems the Z1 is the way to go .

I have DVO Onyx 38 D1, 170mm, with Vorsprung Smashpot. Can't complain, I really love the smoothness of it. I also have Yari with smashpot on my analog bike, love it!

IMO just go for it, but a word of warning: there's no coming back 😁

I have the smashpot in my fox 38. Absolutely love it. The great thing with the smashpot is the bottom out support at the end of the stroke which is very adjustable and works extremely well. Not sure if the forks you mention have this feature but it worth having on the coil setup. It means your not governed by bottom out when selecting your spring. You can run a softer spring if you like that feeling and still not bottom out. Also with the smashpot you can transfer it to a new fork when you get a new bike.

I put one of these in my pike fork. The stiction was the most improved plus it overall works better for me and no more air so very little maintenance. I would like to try a lighter spring than the one I opted for but its 80.00 and low on the priority list at this time. Looks like its limited availability now on what forks they fit into but the 2 they have is only $200 for the kit with the spring.

Smashpot is the way. I’ve got a V1 and it’s great. It modular so it easy to swap between forks with minimal cost and very tunable.

People under estimate the set and forget part of riding coils. Not only is your spring rate constant you also don’t have to service your fork as often there so little stiction without the air seals you can really spread out the fork servicing too.

Are you really going to notice the weight difference on an E-bike? Even if you do the benefits will out weigh the mass.

I ride with coil front and rear on my E Sommet ..
Marz Z1s up front set up as 180s and rear coil set up fo 170 travel

And I love it ….its poppy and playful compared to the heavy ass Whyte e160 I’ve got

Love them tbh…
