Hi all
Changes to amflow pl and was hoping to change over to factory fox front and rear shock I have a spare rear dpx2 160mm seams too long it maybe a 205mm
if you have changed over rear shock which one did you go for and how did it affect the bike.

Also I’m toying with going
factory 36 160mm grip 2
or
Factory 170mm 38 fit4

I have both to try problem is the existing headset has a weird fork crown washer I can’t get off the existing fork

Cheers
Jon.

You go from a 210mm shock to a 205mm shock, you will drop the rear end by about 15mm. This will get those cranks closer to the ground.

it physically wont fit hence me asking what and if others have replaced the shock with, TBH i will probably leave it i was replacing it as i already had one available to me

im more intersted in the 170 38's vs the 36's 160

At the bottom where the steerer meets the upside down U shape ?

That's called a Crown Race and makes the headset bearing 'fit' and meet correctly. You need a tool (or a screwdriver and a hammer, please don't)

You can easily remove the crown race by gently hammering in a stanley knife blade to start a small gap for a screw driver. The crown race also doubles as a knock block on the Amflow.

I changed my suspension to Olin’s. 160 36 up front and a coil shock. Nearly the same as my Lego. Have yet to ride the bike in anger as it arrived two days ago. Also swapped out the tyres. Assuaging max grip up frontt and DHRII rear. Tubeless. My size medium is exactly 21kg without pedals now.

Hi. You need a 185x55 shock size 👍

Do not do this reply, it is incorrect, as others have stated it’s a 185x55 trunnion mount shock.

Could someone write what is the Fox Tune ID code (probably visible on the back of the shock) of the Fox Float X Factory shock and the regular Fox Performance in Amflow?

For the Ohlins stuff, did you re-use the existing mounting hardware or did you order Ohlins mounting hardware separately? I can’t seem to find the specs for the diameter (I assume 8mm) and width for the shock mounting hardware on the non-trunnion end.

Existing. It’s exactly the same as the fox DPX, I took off.. You might need a shock hardware removal tool.

It;s a zero mount kit. The width is the width of the standard plastic bushing inserts in the fox shock and the metal inner sleeve is the same length.

Nice, thanks! I will see if my bearing removal kits will do or if I need a shock hardware removal tool.

Yes, it should be Fox Float X 185x55.
You should also know that bike manufacturers choose their own rear shock valving for each bike, which in the case of Amflow is as I provided in the links above:

2025 FACTORY SERIES FLOAT X

Serial number: 1146791-0034-t
Part number: 979-02-335
Description: 2025, FLOAT X, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Trunnion, Evol LV, AMFLOW, MTX, 185, 55, 0.4 Spacer, CS50, RL40, LMM, Rezi B60,

Thanks Istari. I can't find the website where they sell the 2025 FACTORY SERIES FLOAT X with Part number: 979-02-335

You can't buy this exact shock with valving for Amflow. You can buy another one with matching dimensions (185x55) and send it to Fox or somewhere else so they can change the valving to the ones in Amflow. It will probably cost around 70 Euro.

Now it's clear to me. Thanks Istari.

I asked to Amflow Support for custom-tuned amflow version of the FOX FLOAT X Factory and their answer was: "Currently the it is not available, you may need to consult Fox directly regarding this part."

Fox's answer to my questions:

Please see the specification for this shock below:

979-01-188 - 2025, FLOAT X, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Trunnion, Evol LV, FOX, AM, 185, 55, 0.4 Spacer, CS30, RL50, LMM, Rezi B40, Kashima/Grey, Neutral Logo, AM

VS

979-02-335 : 2025, FLOAT X, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, Trunnion, Evol LV, AMFLOW, MTX, 185, 55, 0.4 Spacer, CS50, RL40, LMM, Rezi B60, Neutral, Neutral Logo,
OE

The only differences between these two shocks are in the tune they are fitted with. The Amflow OE shock uses a firmer compression, and a softer (faster) rebound tune. How much of an impact this will have depends on your riding style and your specific setup. If this shock tune does not provide the performance you are looking for, it can be re-tuned at a later date.

Another good option to change on Amflow PL Carbon: RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate (RS-SDLX-ULT-C2), 185x55, Trunion

Has anyone fitted a Super Deluxe Coil yet? Would this be ok for an Amflow or does it need to be a specific tune for the bike?

Nice, thanks! I will see if my bearing removal kits will do or if I need a shock hardware removal tool.
Hey there, how did you get on with this?

I'm ordering a TTX2Air and Amflow told me it's 16.5x8mm hardware with 0.2 spacers with the original Fox shock.

Reviving this thread in hopes of getting more points of view.
So, has any more ppl swapped the stock shock?

In another forum I was advised that the Fox 36 can be extended to 170mm. It's a cheap upgrade too. Though I'm more running out of shock travel, than fork. So am thinking of fitting a coil fork. Thinking DHX2 Coil. But it's not cheap.

170 38's vs the 36's 160
the 2026 fox 36 is all new and stiffer than last years model, I think they said 86% as stiff as the 38. Also all new set up giving it more stability with the way bushing are set up as well as new internals that flex more than older units. It is serving me very well. No upgrade needed if you had this.

170 38? cant go wrong there ether

I'm running a 170mm Fox 38 GripX2 (because I already had one from my previous bike) and it's great. Not sure i'd spend the money if I didn't already have the fork, especially on a lighter bike like the Amflow.
