Hi, wonder if anybody could answer this question please.
my bike comes with SRAM Maven Bronze brakes, and I’m considering upgrading them at some point. Could I use Hope’s Floating rotors with the Maven callipers, or would they not be compatibl?

Many thanks.

Ahhh, and also not the ridiculously priced twin metal rotors that i can't remember what they're called, as they are too thick.

You would need hope adapters. Rotors are 200 instead of 203 for example?

As far as I know, the Maven disks are 200, with 6 hole mounts.

So when you say I will need hope adapters, what does that do?
Cheers

Yes they will work together. Just understand how to shop for rotors and adapters. I have Hope 220mm rotors,
20mm freedom coast adapters, Maven Silvers. Front and rear. They Stop me when I think about the brakes🤘

Gen4 hope floating disc catches on mine for sure

I put hope semi-floating rotors on my Santa Cruz with SRAM Guide brakes (180 front, 160mm rear) . They are heavy but it's about reliability and longevity for me. I have had no problems with them to date.

It may not be relevant on your bike, but I had a problem switching to Hope floating rotors on my Whyte E-160RS. Basically, I threw away the SRAM Codes brakes a couple of years ago, replacing them with Shimano Saints and SRAM HS2 (2.3mm thick) rotors. That all went well.

However I just replaced the (now burnt out) SRAM rotors with Hope 6 bolt floating rotors. On my bike, the speed sensor magnet fits to two adjacent bolt holes on the outside of the rotor. Two problems with this are that the bolt holes on the Hope rotors are recessed slightly, so when tightening them onto the sensor magnet, it tries to pull them into the recesses and bends the magnet mounting plate. With a bit of judicious handling, it can be bent back flush with the rotor face. BUT... the extra thickness of the centre part of the rotor made the speed sensor magnet foul the rear brake mount. In the end, I had to return the rotor and get the Hope plain (2.3mm thick, 200mm dia) rotor. This gives my speed sensor magnet 0.4mm clearance from the brake mount. Not much space to play with!

The front (Hope 200mm, 6 bolt) rotor fits fine on the front with the Saint brakes. My old SRAM HS2, 220mm rotor also fitted ok on the front.

Measure the distance between speed sensor and magnet before removing wheel to replace rotor. Once finished and wheel is back on. Remeasure and adjust the magnet as needed (trim bracket to prevent warping, add shims, etc….)to get the same gap. Mine went on perfectly. But yours may not. However you’ll save some time versus messing with speed sensor errors.

Are you having a problem with the Mavern's? I went to Tremp in Spain and was doing 14km continuous downhill runs from 2.4km summits. The stock brakes performed the same as others with Hope Tech 4's and floating rotors and I am 3 stone heavier. The Mavern's out performed the other brakes in the group based on their brakes getting so hot they stopped working in the end. Is it a performance increase you are after? In which case I wouldn't bother or just a bling thing, in which case I would go for what you want ;)

To be totally honest, it’s a bling thing, nothing wrong with the Mavens, just fancy some trick looking floating disks. 😉

The 200mm Hope floaters arrived today, so set out to fit them this afternoon. As expected the SRAM Maven pad tabs needed trimming right down, but without fitting any washers, it fits fine. The only part that is a bit close, is the floating dowels are paper thin close to the mounting hardware. I think its ok, but might just file a little off, just to be on the safe side.

Done the same mod and all is working great, not much gap between the cotton reel mounts and the calliper but nothing rubbing.
