Can We Please Stop Attacking Each Other & Being So Defensive Because We Have Different Opinions!

When I first became a member of this amazing forum ~6 years ago, I wanted to learn about settings up Shirgura brakes and which tires were best in specific conditions.

Now it seems like myself and others get attacked on petty disagreements or differences of opinions. The need of some to inflict their will and assault the intelligence of others is detracting from what I think the intent of this website was originally meant to be.

I have learned a lot over the years from the knowledge and input of other riders and have made an extended effort to share my knowledge and opinions for others to benefit as well.

Just because I find value in some of the benefits of AI and you don't, doesn't mean I'm an idiot or should adopt your mindset. If you don’t find value, we live in a free society and just move on.

To be honest I just started being more active again since I am in the market to purchase new bikes and value the input of others as I decide on components, motor systems and battery options.

Just because like to switch out my bikes every ~ 2 years and fortunate to be in a good financial situation doesn't mean I am a "dentist" and don't know how to ride.

I grew up humble (nice way to say poor) and worked hard to get to where I am. Been riding mountain bikes since their inception and although I'm not a professional circuit rider, I have pretty good skills that I believe gives me an opportunity to provide feedback to riders at almost all skill levels.

Can we PLEASE lighten up a little and agree to disagree on some items and move on? The negativity and personal attacks are taking the fun away for me and not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way?

Not only will I have different opinions to you and others, but clearly everyone else's opinions are wrong and worthless. Moreover, I will insist on repeating ad nauseam the same old worn statements more or less verbatim on every single thread regardless of its original subject topic. Why should relevance matter??!

Joking aside, I share your frustration and have recently made use of the "ignore" function on this forum. It's like shutting the door on a room full of screaming children! Bliss!

Personally i'm not very disturbed by those who "try" to attack me. I ignore them (don't feel the troll). But i'm very disturbed by all who try to impose their imagine for a absolut true. It's simple to said "i think" rather "it is", but it seem impossible to ilot of people to admit that they think it's not the reality, which must be binding on everyone. And the IA don't help, it collecting datas, whithout segregate in the competancies (or not) of the editor. Initially i found the netwoork and forum interesting to find informations. But now, lot off time loose to find the "right" informations, inside lot off bullshit.

There is not a lot of descent forums left, most f#@ked up by old timers and the FakeBook pages rise with anonymous participants.

Sharing all, things eee here has been a revelation to me, I share my pictures, my stories, my location etc.... without ebike haters chiming in.

If there is a topic I am not interested in, I don't even open it. Chill... everyone, we don't have the same opinions but we always come together for ebike stuff.

Having been on forums since the early ’90s, keyboard warriors and trolls have always been there. I was a moderator on a gaming forum back in the dial-up days, and the behaviour you’re complaining about existed then too.

It’s human nature — people like tribes and the validation they bring to their lives. At heart, we’re still small-village people, drawn to pockets of belonging. The best approach is simply not to feed the trolls. Understand that weaker personalities need to attach themselves to tribes and won’t hear reason. Filter the noise, because the noise has always been there — and always will be.

Seems to me that the forum changed when it switched pretty much wholesale from discussing bikes to discussing motors. My personal observation, perhaps worthless.

That's probably just a typo, but should be "Don't feed the Troll".

"feeling" the troll might have a more sexual connotation. Maybe on EST Forums (Electric Sex Toys), if there is such a thing, I guess they might play with the words and say "Don't feel the troll" ?? .......

Do we have anyone here who moderates on a sex forum who can confirm that ? There must be someone who rides rubber up (there) and rubber down (here).

Good point. I remember when frame geometry was changing seemingly every time a new bike was released and now we have settled into some established dimensions based on intent.

The technology on motors is definitely advancing more than frames and componentry that make up the bike itself.

I work for an aerospace manufacturing company specializing in composites and CNC machining using the same materials and technologies bicycle companies have incorporated over the years.

We spend time and money investing in the type of products we think customers want the most as most business models do.

I'm personally very excited to see how motor and battery technologies advance and think the competition we are seeing with Avinox, Bosch, SRAM, Shimano just to name a few is great for consumers!

I think it’s MTBR trolls who have trollified every forum they can get to.
They have found the forum that was still decent and shat on the stoop, so we all have to smell it.
Combine that with a ridiculous and unnecessary power war.
Combined with crazy high prices.
Combined with know it all hobbyist EMTB riders.
Then add a smattering of people who only hop on drunk.

Moderators are the key to a good forum.

Delete the trolls.

I think EMTB is a pretty well modded forum.

If this is the case do you consider this change to be welcome and constructive, or essentially unwelcome and destructive when discussing eMTB's?

Perhaps change this forum to be essentially about eMTB motors and officially let the motor trolls loose?

I think EMTB is a pretty well modded forum.

Still the best forum in my opinion and enjoy the videos as well. Recent content from @Rob Rides EMTB played a huge factor in my purchase of the Mondraker Zendit and I was able to obtain a lot of great information from fellow forum members on how I spec'ed the bike.

Working in a technologies based industry, I really enjoy the videos and info from factory tours and interviews with guys like Troydon from Crestline bikes.

Also, being able to see videos and read about the various trade shows is almost as good as being there in person.

Try applying the rule: ignore at the 2nd sign of aggression. No exceptions.
