Big Specialized MSRP price drops !!

Anecdata but at FoD the other weekend I saw one new Levo 4 but I lost count on the number of Amflows I saw riding around. Even saw a few Velduros and other hot-of-the-press Avinox powered bikes.

Just a quick frequency count but anyone riding a bike 1/2 years old was overwhelmingly on an Avinox powered bike.

Pedal Syndicate there is an Amflow dealer which I'm sure has something to do with it, but they also sell other brands.

Well they're not discounting them out of the goodness of their heart. Any business seeks to maximise returns, there are a number of reasons a company will forego that but by definition, none of them are desirable from the company's viewpoint. Seems fairly obvious in this case they brought a comparatively underwhelming product to market just as a disruptive competitor took a sizeable bite out of their market. But I can't know that for sure, maybe they're clearing the decks for an Amflow killer, who knows?

One big thing in favour of the Levo over avinox equipped bikes is that the Levo is silent going downhill. The Spesh motor has no rattle, like a lot of the the new owners of the Avinox MS2 are reporting (on this website) and they are getting no help from shops or manufacturers so far. A rattling motor is a 100% none starter in my book. I would buy Bosch, Brose, or any other motor that doesn’t rattle over Avinox. I think manufacturers like Specialized and Santa Cruz and Trek know this.
I'm sorry but this doesn't reflect reality, my Levo expert 4 has a fantastic engine but it is noisy when going downhill as this video also demonstrates: https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/avinox-m2s-rattle.46696/post-689574

I’ve commented how my experience is the opposite. For all the Amflow hype, I never see them on the trails; while I see a ton of Levos. Even looking at the Strava leaderboards, Levos are all over them; while I can’t find an Amflow. Pivot is so popular here I’ve already seen more Pivot Amp’d bikes than any Amflow and the Amp’d just came out! It’s genuinely surprising.

If DJI/Amflow didn’t show up maybe people would look at the Levo in a different light. It’s certainly not a bad bike. The way people are so vocal about Specialized is odd, I don’t understand it.
In general people seem to hate if it’s not their choice in life now.

That's because you are in the US and not the UK like the poster you are quoting. Amflows were available in the UK (and EU) first and have had more time the get embedded in the market. Avinox/Amflow also put a lot of marketing effort in in the region also which helped. Pretty sure they even sponser this forum given the banner ad at the top of the webpages.

It’s because they’re the premium priced incumbent, they’re the BMW of the bike world. Not crazy ritzy luxury, but a brand you pay a premium for and one people like to be seen in. These new entrants to the market running Avinox are like the Tesla of the bike world, counter positioned to these long running brands with an heir of superiority trying to disrupt things.

Or this is a thread about Spesh doing something unexpected & far from being excessively vocal, people are dicussing it exactly where you would expect them to be doing so.

That’s not quite what I was getting at, more people just constantly being negative as soon as it’s mentioned. I don’t feel need to constantly go on about brands I haven’t brought don’t like etc

I've got a Spesh (and a Trek). I love it. I also think bikes in general, but Spesh especially, are massively overpriced. Spesh started the "aspirational" pricing for bikes and once the other big manufacturers saw that it didn't negatively effect sales they all followed suit.
It's possible to like the brand/product but not be on board with the pricing structure.

I don't like the Gen 4 Levo though. If Bella Emberg was a bike...

Not all avinox bikes are cheap.
Pivot is very high end. (Higher than specialized IMHO) they are expense…. And are sold out , and the next production line is sold out. (Unless you get it at a shop who bought enough stock)
I love my levos’s but if I could get a pivot in this 3rd world county I live in I would.

Specialized have lost the plot and have become rather arrogant and complacent when it comes to there e-bikes. They were so far ahead in the beginning the they sat back closed their eyes to what’s happening elsewhere.
They were offered the m1 motor but turned it down. Even that motor is better than what they put out.
I’m annoyed… but I’d still get another Levo. Dealer support is key for me, And there are no avinox bikes available here. (Not untill November where a local company is busy building a bike at such a good value that I think it will upset the local specialised importers. )

Then again. First world problems in a 3rd world country.

Check it out - would love your opinion on the frame design

But at the end o the day there is a specialized dealer in almost every city. And I’ve had to use two of them when a motor blow while in a cycling safari. So service and support are essentially my top priorities.
