Yep. This would be huge for me. Would love to have the Levo connect directly to the Watch Ultra. I don’t usually carry my phone when I ride. At the moment I have the ultra on my wrist and an 830 on the bike with a wrist based HRM. The 830 is lowly dying and I’d rather be able to use the Ultra for everything rather than spring for an 840. 2.5-3 days from the Ultra has been fine for me charge wise. I just put it on the charger while I shower and do a full charge every three days.

I don’t need all the metrics that a serious athlete uses on the Garmin. I just want to record my rides and workouts at a basic level.

I’ll test on my current watch the upgrade to the ultra. Having FTP zones and basic record would be useful for training - provided it can pick up the bikes power numbers.

Hi galaga187
Do you know what version update this is. I am on 9.5.1 but haven't searched for it yet. Is it in the workout app?

watchOS 10 will be available this autumn. Its specs were just released yesterday on Apple's yearly developers conference.

For anyone wondering about an Ultra, just a couple of observations.

I got one as an update to a 44 mm 6, and it's far better. The battery life is not as good as some say in my experience, but if you start the day at 100% there is nothing you could do to run out before midnight. And in normal use, if you forget to charge overnight then it'll be fine until the end of the next day.

Would I buy one again? No.

The screen is not bigger than a 45 mm Series 8. It's all Bezel. It might be brighter, I'm not sure, but it just isn't any bigger.

The battery life is indeed dramatically better than my 6, but it's not that different to my wife's 8. A full day of ski tracking for both of us left her watch at 68% and mine at 73%. Not a massive difference, and both seemed to do an excellent job tracking the day, with equally smooth traces.

The thing is, her 8 was £400, the Ultra is £850. So you can buy a second 8 and still have a nice meal out.

The Ultra's nice, the Ti case and Sapphire screen are without a mark after 6 months use, but I still have Apple care just in case I smash it, and if you ruined an 8 you could buy another one and still be quids in.

Ho Growmac...you didn't mention the orange side button on the Ultra...quite useful, but maybe not 400quid useful !

As we are talking about Apple Watch I use an app Cyclemeter with the Elite upgrade. It maps the rides with usual distance, ascent, heart rate etc and also sends an email map link every 1 km or so. This can be seen by whoever you have got in the email link (handy if you ride solo a lot) but also is available on return and you can export a GPX file....I have used it for a few years and really rate it...you can use it for skiing as well.

Just and FYI, I have the beta of OS 10 installed on my Ultra and was excited to get it hooked up to my levo. Levo only supports Ant+ for showing power, cadence, and speed. The apple watch does not have Ant+ support only Bluetooth so there is no ability to connect it.

It’ll depend whether the bike has BLE hardware that can broadcast. If it does the Specialised should be able to make it happen. Since the phone connection to the bike is BLE, using the mission control app, I would think they can make it compatible with the Apple Watch. Currently it only broadcasts ant+ but it looks like the hardware is capable of BLE.

Actually I’d be more than happy to just have the Watch start and stop the bike recording and read the heart rate from the watch on the bike. The phone connection just doesn’t work for me. I still need a separate HRM and I need to have the phone on the bars for GPS signal which I’m never going to do. Much easier just to use the watch.

My ultra get double the battery life of my Watch 7 44mm. Two days (a full 48 hours) of normal usage for the Ultra. I usually charge while showering as well and so stretch to nearly three full days.

Watch OS10 is going to be a huge disruptor to the bike computer market. And eBike manufacturers need to get onboard.

As it is right now, I doubt that Watch OS 10 can connect to e-bikes. However, I’m looking forward to that for the future

I have an Ultra and would be happy if I could somehow get the heart rate data over to my Garmin 130 plus.
Also, I’ve had some large discrepancies on average speed and elevation gain between the two.

You can, but you need an external beacon called HeartBeatz and an app called HeatBeatz Connect.

I use it to broadcast the HR from my Apple Watch to my Garmin 830 and it works well.

Elevation gain is interesting. I've found the Apple Watch and Garmin 530 agree pretty well when using their own barometric data. Once you import it into your app of choice though, all bets are off.

We rode HOTS as usual this year (50 or 75 km endurance MTB event, it's very relaxing and very fun). The same GPX trace loaded into various services reported the elevation as between 860 (Komoot), 970 (OutdoorActive) and 1380 (OS) m of climbing (EDIT: I've not gone back to check the exact numbers, I can if anyone is interested?). Same device, same file, clearly not the same elevation data on the back end. Maybe OS have the highest density grid?

I would assume that relative gain would be consistent within one service, but it seems you can't compare between them with any accuracy.

Yeah it's very weird. Fitness app says X meters of elevation. But the same activity synced to Strava shows a different elevation gain (higher). Then if use the "adjust elevation" option on Strava which replaces device elevation data with Strava's basemap data, elevation on Strava is much closer to the one in Fitness app.

Having a Bosch bike with the 'Starship Enterprise' controller ( no screen) I would like to see a Bosch Apple phone app so I could easily see my stats battery % and distance
