I thought I needed to disassemble, at least partially, my X01 11-speed shifter to replace the cable. That is a mistake I will never make again! The internal clock spring vanished into the garage ether, and I doubt I could reassemble the shifter even if I found all the parts that went TWANG.

I bought a new shifter (ouch!), which came with a new inner cable already attached. This makes me wonder if the cable is intended to be replaceable.

Anyone successfully perform an X01 cable swap surgery? If yes, do you have any tips 'n' tricks?

You opened up the wrong side . I have done it too . I did find a you tube vid on how to reassemble it though . Open the side facing away from you. The cable takes some fiddling to get in and out from under spring but it's not hard . Wind the adjustment on the shifter all the way in then back out one turn that will give you fine tuning both looser or slacker .
I like the XO1 for the adjustment of the lever.
