Has anyone managed to run an angler set like the Superstar Slackerizer or Works one in their Decoy? I’m tempted to run my Decoy MX in the high setting but counteract to steepening of the head angle with either an Angleset and/or a Reverse -0.5 angle steerer race or Niner Slacker Puck.

The reason being I want to steepen the seat angle but not the head angle.

Anyone had any luck? I might just not bother if it’s too much of an arse to do as I’m aware there might be clearance issues with the fork and downtube.

Can't speak for the Decoy but I am running a Works components angleset in a Focus Jam. Assuming the upper headset bearing isn't something propietary to YT, then there will be one to suit.

As for fitting, it's just a matter of replacing the upper & lower bearing cups & bearings for the offset ones in the kit. You could use proper removal tools or just as easily tap the cups out with a soft mallet & something like a ratchet extension. Fitting is best with a headset press but again, it's perfectly possible to tap them in evenly with a mallet & a piece of scrap wood if you're careful. Top tip, lightly grease the outside of the cups to protect the frame & make removal easy if you swap them back to oem.

I have run a works angleset on my Decoy for almost 3 years and it worked flawlessly. It was still on the original bearings when I sold the bike!

@RustyMTB I’ve used them before in other bikes, but thanks for the advice👍🏻.
@Chrysaor did you have any problems with the fork clearing the downtube as I know that’s the point of the Knock Block headset? It’s hard to tell if it’ll clear or if an external lower headset cup will be enough to clear it.
Don’t have any photos of how much clearance the forks have?

Cheers guys.

I was on the XL Decoy 29, plenty of room for the Fox36 grip2 and later on a Manitou Mezzer

Cheers, I think I have about 4-5mm clearance but nowhere near as much as you. I think an external headset cup will sort it
