Yeah over the last couple of days a silly ad bar thingy comes down and gets swiped straight back up !

Can you screenshot if you get a chance?

Only seems to be on my desktop, not on mobile mode.
Every 20 mins I get a full page ad, along with a top banner, bottom banner and as other guy says, one that scrolls down too.
I won't be on my desktop till tomorrow.

Without VPN this ad pops up

Yeah still quite a lot... Top banner, bottom banner and almost every refresh a big full page.

I don't massively mind and it won't influence my browsing of here.. but it's 'different' to what we used to see here, so more of an observation than a whinge.

Every time i navigate away from the page to another tab and then come back in get a full page advert on my return.

I just use Adblock, no adds at all on any sites
Well there's issues with that logic. Websites like this not only get revenue from clicks, but revenue from the advertising actually being present. Using adblockers actually takes away revenue from the Forum and takes away the ability to keep providing the place we all use.
So adblockers are a big no no from me.

I run a forum which has 0 advertising but my hosting costs are covered by a subscription from the members.

You could also subscribe to this forum if the ads bother you that much (y)
Wasn't aware that was an option and whether it'd remove adverts completely.... If that's the case, then yeah i'm all over that plan.

Sorry for the increase of ads - I've not changed anything else my end, Google auto ads are placed on the site and that decides where and when to place them.

And if you'd like to, subscribe for £5 a year to completely remove all advertising from the forum :)

Thanks
Rob
Only £5 for the year, that’s too cheap Rob I thought it would a lot more. Take my fiver I will be signing up later today

I can't say ive noticed a change on an android with chrome.
Certainly some sites, singletrackworld and pretty much all local news paper sites are completely unusable these days due to ads.
Maybe though Rob can give me a complimentary subscription for moderating his emtbforums Facebook group for the past year 😉

£5 a year, it's not even worth a discussion.... Subscribed.

Just pay £5 subscription less than a pint of beer, and no more adds. It’s a no brainer. It’s a great forum. 👍
We all spend thousands on our bikes plus upgrades and servicing, travelling to bike parks which we have to pay for etc. And then a lot of folk moan about the adverts and are too tight to pay £5 for a forum with so much help and advice on it. Come on guys. 👍

I started to reduce a lot of the ads. There’s still some, but should be less intrusive.

Even less for registered members.

And absolutely none for £5 year subscribers 👍

My feed in the last 2 days has got a LOT more adverty than previously. a Canyon one that comes up from the bottom all the time and threads that jump to the advert instead of the last post.

For the past few weeks, I have been getting borderline disgusting ads for athlete's foot medicine with revolting looking drawings of nails. I also get something that looks like alternative medicine but didn't really look into it...

Today I'm getting massive popups that had me wondering if my browser got hijacked, but they only appear on this forum.

Oh yeah i've had a few of those full page ones too. I can't argue too much as it's needed to keep sites running. Just pointing out it's a fair bit more than previously.
