540 WH battery & E8000 motor

Afternoon all

I’m looking for my first EMTB. Specifically the YT Decoy elite. The spec is incredible and I feel like it’s a great bike for the money, but the one thing that does worry me is the motor and 540wh battery.

I’m only 11stone (70kg) with my riding gear on, and the bike is 22.9kg (not the lightest but I’ve seen a lot heavier). Would the motor/battery significantly reduce the amount of riding I could get done on a single ride? I won’t be using it for 40 mile xc rides, I like to go to a set of trails and do laps. Probably looking at a maximum of 25-30 miles. I understand there’s lots of variables with elevation gain/gradient of climbs etc. I’m probably going to be in Eco mode unless on a steep climb.

Any help would be much appreciated.

At 11 stone and mainly in eco I think the battery will last you a lot more than 25 to 30 miles. Im 12 and a half stone and did 17 miles in eco and trail the other day and had 3 bars left.
 
MOre than enough, but it depends on the power setting. Blasting up a hill in boost will drain the battery faster, in eco less fast but it will require more effort from you. Generally you should not look at the distance but how much elevation you can get out of a battery....if it is mtb you are doing.... I think you can easily get 1000 - 1200hm in eco/trail. Boost I do not know as I (almost) never use that. Then you have tire choose, pressure of the tires, your fitness, the condition of the trails, your technique.....well you get my drift

Here some stats from my last rides with the decoy:

1. 50.1km (31mi), 1.100m climbing, rest two bars battery (out of five bars)
2. 64.4km (40mi), 690m climbing, rest one bar battery
3. 34.2km(21mi), 800m climbing, rest two bars battery
4. 39km (24mi), 370m climbing, rest three bars battery
5. 45.5km (28mi), 1.100m climbing, rest two bars battery

I have a weight of around 100kg (17.6 stone).

Hope this helps a little bit.

Very similar values to mine. I am also around 100kg. Usually my wife who is 60 kg and a lot less powerful is using 10% less battery for the same ride, also on Decoy.
 
You will be fine ... until the battery dies and you have to wait 3+ months for a replacement.
