2026 Giant Reign E+ Megathread

Will be interesting to see if the 48 volt system/motor is the new yam or Brose?
Anyone has a sense for the date on this new bike?

Not really… From 2019 to 2025, Giant e-bikes can fit an 800Wh battery thanks to the frame design. So you can start with a 500Wh or 625Wh battery, and upgrade to 800Wh later if needed—which is pretty nice. It’s not the slimmest-looking frame, but it’s definitely practical if you want or need the extra range in the future.

The new motor runs on 48V, so it’s not a compatible system, but it uses the same interface. So I guess it could be possible to retrofit it by replacing both the motor and the battery, right?

Not sure if you read my post carefully as I was referencing to the 750wh battery that Giant sold for pretty much only a year.

This battery was using a larger external casing than the current 500/625/800 format.

I saw a photo of the new bike, looks like a non removable battery similar to the current trance x advanced e+. Slimmer downtube because of the 560wh battery and I guess the range extender on the downtube for longer rides. The range extender wasn’t in the photo I saw. It looked a lot like the current reign except for the downtube, the motor also looked a lot like the current SyncDrive pro 2. Sounded like late summer/fall release like the current reign e+. It’ll be interesting to see how it stacks up against all of the other new ebikes coming out. I went with the reign e+ in late 2021 because it was reasonably priced and well specced, so hopefully this is similar. I would like it to be in the 46-48lb range(21kg).

Sure, I got it.... maybe I didn’t express myself correctly. The design accommodates 750 and 800 batteries, which is where the big height difference lies compared to the 500 and 625.
The 750 and 800 batteries are very similar, with only a 2mm height difference between them; the 750 being slightly taller.
As I mentioned, the major difference is in comparison to the 500 and 625, since the height difference from the 625 to the 800 is 5mm, and 7mm compared to the 750.
My conclusion is that the design wasn’t made specifically for the 750 battery, but rather for the 800, which eventually became standard across all later bikes.
The 750 battery was more of a temporary solution for some 2022 bikes, and it wasn’t even sold separately as an accessory. Then the 800Wh battery finally arrived a few months later.
It was a bit unusual, such were the post-pandemic times were.o_O

I still run the 625W battery ( actually only 601 watts ) in my Reign E+1 and generally plenty of range so a modern high density 560watt battery is probably similar in range, but lighter etc.

The main difference between the 500Wh, 625Wh, 750Wh and the newer 400Wh and 800Wh are the cells used, the older packs used 18650 cells the new packs use 22700 cells.
The later 22700 cells due to higer capacity/voltage being more efficient.

Anyone know if they are going to do an Elite+ (ligthweight) version of the Reign? Reading the spec of the 2026 Reign E seems like there would be too much overlap.

I had heard they could launch it during Crankworx Whistler with a potential release in September or October. I didn’t think it would have a removable battery though and that prototype looks like it has a removable battery cover like the old one.

Current Reign E+ was released in October 2021 and it was already in stock at bike shops, so October release for the 2026 MY is logical.

This is a production ready bike, downtube is massive and must be able to accomodate 800WH+ batteries, Giant must've made some changes since the initial leaked specs ?

Looks like they're also playing with the Maestro suspension design with this new model as there's now a tunnel in the seat tube and the linkage is going through it, much cleaner with far better cable management.

New Yamaha PW-X4 delivering 100nm on a 48v system while being one of the lightest system is interesting.

Hopefully giant are using their own battery tech instead of the 4.3kg one Yamaha has on offer. Motor weight looks really decent.

Edit: Looking at the downtube size, I wonder if giant have opted for a custom 900WH+ removable battery and aren't going to offer a range extender option. Could definitely see that as being quite appealing to some who aren't worried about the extra weight.

Looks no worse than the new Levo or any Gen 5 Bosch bike with a removeable battery imo.
Yeah, looks about the same as those, which IMO aren’t very good. The Amflow just looks so sleek compared to these new bikes.

The aglow does not have a removable battery and its carbon, Rotwild just released a removable battery bike with the DJI motor still carbon so slimmer but about 12k I think

Looks like an August roll-out for the new Reign E+... The specs picture published earlier this year also seems right on. 😎

Rob Warner was at a Giant launch event in Whistler recently that he said he couldn't talk about.
Also my workmates from the bike shop that I work in are at the Giant UK dealer show tomorrow (unfortunately I couldn't go) so there will most likely be concrete news very soon. 😉

Those who are in the know, should we be excited about this bike? How will it slot into the current offering of emtbs?

I'm not in the know, but I was disappointed by how fat and preggers it looks. I was hoping it would be my first ebike, but ill be going something running DJI.

It's gonna be difficult for all the big manufacturers like Giant who have traditionally had long model life to keep up. If the new Giant doesn't even match DJI's offerings now at its release date, imagine how old fashioned it will seem even half way through a four year model life.

Saw pictures of the new Reign today. As predicted on this thread it's all carbon, small battery (around 450wh iirc) but comes with a 250wh range extender included. PWX4 motor (48volt, 90nm), longer travel suspension, horrible one piece carbon bar and stem combo (to my eyes at least). There's a new display on the top tube and handlebar mounted mode switch with much bigger buttons and it has built in security (airtag type thing for tracking it and the ability to disable the bike remotely).
Similar lines to the outgoing bike but BB looks higher, down tube slimmer, so a family resemblance but all new. Claimed significant weight savings but no figures for overall weight. Availability is imminent (here in the UK at least).
Whether they've done enough to compete with DJI even in the short term is open to question and if they're looking at another four year model run with minimal updates I think they're barking up the wrong tree.

Some wrong info there...it is 560wh main battery + 280wh range extender(included in the E+ 0).
Is not fully a PW-X4, as it is 90nm instead 100nm.
The bike is about 4-5 kg lighter than the current model, features a full-carbon frame, and offers a significant increase in stiffness for a downhill-focused design.

I wonder if we aren't going to see two models of Reign. The Advanced that is carbon with the integrated smaller battery and significant weight savings and a regular Reign that has the bigger removable battery and similar weight to current model and the full PW-X4.
