So having initially looked at two other bikes for a for a friend and been advised of their inherent issues then my friend who is looking to get his first E-Bike is now looking at a couple of the new 2025 Cube's.

He's not wanting anything for extreme downhills but some climbing, trail riding and possible some longer overnight rides.

He's looking at the following:
2025 Cube Stereo Hybrid One44 HPC Race 880.

2025 Cube Stereo Hybrid One44 SLX 800.

There's £500 difference in these and he's wondering if its worth paying the extra £500 and getting the SLX variant.

Anyone offer any thoughts or should he just get the cheaper option?

Only differences are fork, shock, brakes, shifter and rims. Unless he’s really going to push limits I’m sure he’d be happy with either.

Also consider the 2024 One55. I got mine on this deal and it's got a decent spec for the money.

Thanks, thats one of the ones he has discounted as he wants the newer frame and motor, as good a deal it is its just one he's turned away from.

If he orders from one of the German sites he could get 15% off the 2025 models.

I'm about to buy the SLX, the suspension upgrades are meaningful: they will feel better and last much longer between service intervals than the entry level ones.

How does that work, I mean ordering from a German site, won't you have to pay the import charges and VAT thus negating the 15% discount?

Pay the extra £500
I received a email today and singletrack bikes are doing 15 percent off 2025 cubes till 6th of Jan
Thats interesting, is it a discount code for the 15% as there's no discount on their site on any 2025 Cubes?

I went for the Slx at 4500. Had a Morning on steeper trails at Innerliethen and It felt really good.
I put Hope brakes and wheels on to my bike ,Just personal preference and there easy to service .
My only complaint is I think the seat post tower is too tall and I could not get the seat as low as I'd have liked on the steeper trails .
Other than that I think it's good value and very capable.More capable than my riding skills

Thanks for the wee review.

I have a 2021 Cube 160, 4 years old and 3000+ miles and it's never missed a beat so i'm looking to another Cube as a refresh and the 177 has really caught my eye but 177 reviews are like "Hens Teeth" so really appreciate your response. Thanks very much.

Truly bonkers value, this is the cheapest ebike I have bought (my 2018 commencal was 4500, 2023 giant was 6000), yet this possibly has a better spec than either with mostly XT drivetrain and brakes, good Newmen wheels and ok suspension.

I know the thread is for the one44, but the deals and specs are very comparable for the one77.

And warranty support cross border?

Good question, I'm fairly sure for the motor it's just any old shop dealing with Bosch.

For the frame not sure if a local shop can deal with it or if it needs to be sent back to Germany similarly to YT or canyon.

I’m in the uk and bought my cube from a shop miles away. My local cube/bosch dealer would deal with warranty on both but only for parts, not labour.

I can only speak for myself of course but..... With buying an ebike I'd want to be very sure about the warranty support I would get. I know the theory is that warranty should be (is ?) international and that you can go to any bike shop but, the reality can often be different especially if getting back on the trails quickly is important.
For a non-ebike I'm less worried.

I'm now riding my sixth E MTB .

I've risked the second hand market

Bought a new one at a silly price online

Then purchased last 4 on the bike to work scheme at LBS .

Buying from my LBS has been my best experience as it's like purchasing a insurance policy .

It's been worth it's weight in gold on several occasions

Every E-MTB has had a faulty Battery ,motor or electronic issues .

I've had a warranty claim with every one !

In my experience purchasing a Bosch powered E-MTB from my LBS has been invaluable .

Bosch Warranty service is incredible.

One example is my motor cut out on a trio to the lakes district on a Monday .

I dropped it off at LBS in the Tuesday where they done diagnostics and sent to Bosch .

Bosch sent out a new motor same day and it was installed and tested and ready to cover on the Saturday.

As I ride 3 times a week and do approx 4000km per year I really appreciate having my LBS as a insurance policy .

I could have saved possibly 10 to 15 percent buying my One77 Slx online.

IMHO and experience above I find paying full price at LBS worth every penny.

That 10 to 15 percent has been worth invested wisely.

This is Just my experience Im sure you will make a calculated decision .

Ihope you enjoy riding your new bike when it arrives

I got the SLX, great bike and you won’t have to think about upgrading it, weak point seems to be chain as i snapped mine at 300 miles.

I downgrade to Shimano Linkglide 10/11 speed as it's stronger ,more durable and replacing a cassette and chain every 1000km works out way cheaper .
My preference is the U6000 group set with a XT shifter .
Cheap durable and functions well enough

I got the email again tonight with 15 percent off at singletrack bikes

I hope this helps someone get a nice 2025 cube one 77 /one44 bike 😁
Maybe I'm biased but the one77 Slx will be a contender for best valve ebike of 2025
