2021 rail with 180 mm fork?

Has anyone succesfully mounted a 180mm fork on thier rail? or is 170mm the max. I dont want to smoke the bikes awesome geometry but would like to swap in 180mm

I ride with someone that has a 180mm Fox 38 on his Trek Rail. He seems to like it, makes the stand over height on his large pretty high though.
