Hi,
They replaced the battery and I bought a second one. No problems (in 2 years) with either so it seems like an oddball early battery issue. It was one of the first shipped. Bike done 20k kms now mainly Enduro tracks with only normal wear and tear.
I thought I would post this to give people a heads up.
YT in Surrey no longer send out parts to UK customers as they now have the main website accepting orders from the UK.
The downside of this is that parts take 2+ weeks to get here and shipping seems to be a fixed £14.99. I ordered a 19.99...
yep, the motor firmware had no idea that it is in a YT. I have a motor in my bike that was "setup" for my wife's Canyon. Just plugged it in and rode it.
I suspect they are waiting on a delivery of batteries. I have ordered a spare and been told it will come via the Mill in the UK and have not received it yet. I wonder if I got the last spare they had ?
My guess here is the poor YT website updating. A few weeks ago that page said new stock in July until I pointed out that is was well past the date. I think website maintenance is as good at Customer Service at YT.
I looked on the main YT site (Europe?) which is the one I ordered my battery on and they are listed in stock and I can put it in the cart. I have no idea what you are looking at.
OK , an end to the saga :)
The bike arrived back today with a new battery and is now fully working and has a test ride.
Couple of things to mention however.
1. The "new box" was not a new box and was so poorly taped that it had burst open in transit. If they wheels had been in it the would...
As I mentioned in my warranty thread I had a battery die after a year. What I did not mention was the bike had to go back to Germany in the 1st week I owned it with a battery fault. When it got to Germany they could not reproduce the fault even though it had been verified by the local Shimano agent.
The bikes are cheaper because they do not have to pay dealer markups. I suspect YT may even have better margins than some non-direct brands. Dealer markups are typically 20-40% depending on size of dealer.
They are worn (not worn out), which I know. I live in Innerleithen so get through brake pads :-) Maybe they expected me to fit new pads before I sent the bike back with a battery problem. ;-)
