I have a gen1 SL, and am considering getting my son a used gen1 SL so he can ride with me.
He's 13 and growing fast... thinking of getting him a size M (height-wise he's right between size S and M), but I think he'll do better going from his 26" to a 27.5 vs up to 29".
I've been reading posts...
I had a Levo and traded it for a Levo SL. There are lots of posts on the forum comparing the two. The two bikes exist for a reason and you need to sort what is going to work for you. I’d encourage you to rent/borrow/demo both if you can.
For me I didn’t like the extra weight of the FF and...
This is all I'm asking really.
I've tried (maybe not hard enough) to be clear that I lock my bikes with gold/diamond rated locks, garage them, airtag them... I have a dog who sounds ferocious but he's a big baby. I have cameras and motion detectors.
I'm just trying to figure out how robust...
yep, as mentioned I use locks (gold and diamond rated), even inside my garage.
I disagree with your point on a tracker. Trackers can be removed, just like my airtag can be removed.
I've thought a lot about ebike security and had considered building a tracker with some ebike features, but...
I have read about System Lock feature in the new MasterMind display, but I've found very little information other than high-level what it does and how to set it up.
Does anyone know how fool-proof the technology is? (ie, does it actually brick the bike? or is there a workaround? proven/tested?)...
Did a couple rides with my brother this weekend. I piggybacked on his mobile network connection as my phone didn't have signal (he's on Verizon and I use AT&T). At that point he noticed that *my* Levo SL's battery status was showing up on *his* Garmin Fenix 7 watch.
I did have mission control...
Two rides with my brother this weekend. He was on a rented Norco Sight VLT (FF, ~58lbs, Simano EP8 w/540wh battery) and me on my '19 SL Expert. Second ride was 23.6 miles with 3400ft elevation gain. He mostly rode in 'Trail' or 'Eco' to ride together. On climbs when he switched into 'boost' mode...
Use search, a bunch of us have posted on the switch from FF to SL.
If you find yourself mostly riding on ‘Eco’, you’ll be happier on an SL. The FF feels like a super bike; the SL is a super you.
Although you had an issue with your motor and it’s fixed I thought I’d share my experience with SL overrun .
TLDR there is a little overrun and in some bikes it can be excessive, and your LBS can tune it out...
Same. I had years off, was out of shape and confidence. Had FF Levo for a year, was awesome but by the end of the season I was riding eco only and it felt like a monster truck to me. Sold it for an SL, couldn’t be happier. I’m 50+ and in reasonably good shape. Ride mostly in Sierras
I have a 2020 SL Expert, and I ride some rocky terrain (new fav trail pic) and have cracked my bash guard (aka rock guard).
I'm looking at replacement options... weighing between just get a Spesh OEM replacment, or there are a couple aftermarket metal guards. I'm tempted to go aftermarket...
Been thinking about putting GPS tracking in my Levo SL for anti-theft, but battery life seems to be a problem for most trackers. Ideally I'd like something that is wired to the main battery and never comes out of the bike, and I never have to think of charging it.
I've seen mention of the 12v...
Use the search feature on the forum... this has been discussed a few times (I've posted on it... I switched from a Levo to my SL Expert over a year ago). If you are happy riding at 50% or less and never deplete your battery more that ~50-60% nor use 'Turbo' on the Levo you fit the target for...
Yes sorry, I fumbled the comment link.
Was doing that on my mobile while at kid's soccer game. I was trying to be extra helpful and I made it worse! I've corrected it above but here's the direct comment link: US Forest Service NEPA Projects Home
Posted on US thread as well, but posting here for added visibility.
NEED YOUR HELP.
the Forest Service's Tahoe Basin Wide Trails plan is proposing to open almost 80 miles of Tahoe Basin trails to class 1 e-bikes. Please submit your comments to the Forest Service by 3/28! Comment here by...
Same. Annoyingly loud, louder than my old Levo. My typical rides are early morning forest rides. The noise gets in the way of the peaceful forest so I just turn it off as much as possible eg on less steep sections.
Still love my SL though and wouldn’t trade it, except for a quieter SL ?. I’d...
OVERDUE UPDATE: Specialized read my original post and reached out privately asking to send a diagnostic report to them, which I did. On the basis of the diagnostics, they recommended a motor torque offset calibration at my LBS. Turns out the SL has this torque offset calibration which tunes...
