@mart1nn search the forum on FF vs SL. There have been quite a few threads on the topic... I've posted my own story several times. I went from Stumpjumper to Levo to SL. The FF is a pig. You'll definitely notice the extra 10 pounds.
You say you mostly ride solo and are hoping to find a group to...
“More than 100 fires were caused by e-bikes in 2021, resulting in 79 injuries and four deaths, according to the FDNY.”
"We also want to emphasize the rising cause of fires from e-bikes and to ensure that families are making sure that they are following the safest possible way to use these...
My second home is outside of SLT, and I do the same. I typically ride early in the morning so I don’t see anyone and it’s cooler, but also means I don’t have to deal with any anti-emtbers either.
I see more and more ebikes on the trails each year so I think it’s only a matter of time (another...
semi-serious question: if you've got a Hiplok D1000 that takes ~20min and 5-6 grinder blades to cut through, what do you lock it to? (I've watched the Hiplok video, and can't un-see it... I missed the kickstarter but now want one).
My question is likely not a problem for a while, but at some...
@blueglide generally agree with you on not having debt but with interest rates so low and inflation ripping, cash is trash. Better to own hard assets (yes, even a bike). That bike will be more expensive next year for sure.
I ride my SL almost exclusively but kept my old Stumpjumper. Couldn’t...
Y I realize the problem. Guess I was thinking airbag is more reliable and could give you a location straight away. Might give away thieves address. If the Tile were in a different location might get lucky and if they don’t find it first could be a longer term tracker albeit less effective ...
@cole_inman do you use premium service with your Tile Pro? AirTag without the warning would be the best, but maybe AirTag + Tile would be a good alternative. I've looked at purpose built trackers but it doesn't seem any of them have raving reviews. Although I'm obsessive about keeping my bike...

Switch to an SL and just go ride. Similar situation here in CA. Anti-eMTBs have even posted signs on all the trailheads to keep our devil rides off. :)
I do tend to ride early before the crowds and I avoid the busiest trails, because I like quiet trails to myself. But I’ve yet to have a problem...
The USFS is taking public comments on proposed changes to their ebike policies.
If you would like to voice your opinion on possibly allowing ebikes on Forest Service trails where regular 'analog' bikes are allowed, please take a few minutes to leave public comments here:

super helpful thanks this is what I was trying to understand. I'm not a garmin/blevo/etc user.
I totally understand it depends on steepness, terrain, which bike etc. just trying to get a few datapoints as I have none!
I'm reacting to a comment that eMTBs are dangerous because they can go up...
Likely a strange question...
One argument against eMTBs are how fast they are.
Specifically I heard a claim that the eMTBs can climb singletracks at 15mph, and that speed up is dangerous for a variety of reasons (people not expecting, speed differential, etc).
I never measure my speed so have...
I second this. Though in my case I’d rather be riding but have given up a half day/week to trail building. I’m the beneficiary of some fantastic local trails out my door and want to give back. New trail is going to be epic when finished
