We have a huge problem with ebikes

Im not a fan of motor bolt pattern and battery standardization. Some things just shouldnt be standardized. It hampers innovation. Apply standards where it makes sense, but in this case it doesnt make sense. There is a reason why you cant fit an AMD cpu in an Intel system. There is a reason...

How long to recover from Scaphoid break?

The mobius is great. Expensive as hell though... But it does work. It prevents the back flexing of the hand very well, so it reliefs a lot of the pressure from the scaphoid bone. Also pretty comfortably, i hardly even know im wearing one while riding.

How long to recover from Scaphoid break?

My scaphoid fracture was diagnosed incorrectly. So i walked around with a broken wrist for 5 months. Imagine the pain! When my doctor found out it was actually broken and they put a pin in it, i was back up and bicycling within a week. A pin = instant and total pain relief. Its only a short...

    BMS Reset

What do you mean by "bms connector"? The whole thing IS the BMS and it has lots of connectors: - Charge port (C+, C- / but could be something else, just follow where the leads go) - Motor controller communication (seems to be the one you circled in blue, cant read text for that reason) -...

    E-Bike in Catalonian Pyrenees

Many of those Zona Zero trails can be ridden year round. The exception might be the higher elevated trails. But most trails around Ainsa are fairly low in elevation any way. The one thing that is annoying in late winter / early spring are the processionary caterpillars. There is loads of them...

How much power do I need?

No this is sold on the EU market as well. In fact i bought one, and there is a whole network of distributors and shops that sell it in the EU.

How much power do I need?

oh yes. The dyname motor actually shows the output power, and it actually does consume 750W almost continuously on the highest power setting: Source: And it seems to make sense. With my previous E8000 i was able to ride a 500Wh battery flat in 1 hour, meaning i was consuming 500W on average.

How much power do I need?

Theoretically yes. In practice, no. Im not sure how emtb manufacturers are getting away with this. But hey, you dont hear me complaining...

How much power do I need?

No you are not wrong, but its not the cadence that has to go up. Its the electrical power. That is why i mentioned before that most motors actually consume anywhere from 500W to 750W at peak, resulting in ~70 to ~110Nm at the cranks.

How much power do I need?

Well, that is not how it works. The percentage rating means the amplification of your own input. So if it is set for example at 200%, and you apply a force of lets say 30Nm on the cranks, the motor will output 60Nm. If it is set at 90% and you apply 30Nm, the motor will output 27Nm. But then...

What motors don't rattle on descent?

The Dyname 4.0 on my rocky mountain doesnt rattle. The battery on the other hand....

Be aware of Shimano's paultry warranty 🐔

Shimano motors do get bricked, but its not because of servicing. PLB knows that, but they dont want to deal with the warranty claims that inevitably pop up months or years down the line. My motor has been opened about 6 or 7 times now and is still going strong after 10000km. It did need...

Be aware of Shimano's paultry warranty 🐔

The bearings are standard common types and can be purchased anywhere. There is a complete listing of the bearings in the shimano servicing topic if you wish to buy them. I bought mine from a local bearing shop in the netherlands. Many of us have opened shimano motors, replaced parts like...

Be aware of Shimano's paultry warranty 🐔

They dont have anti tamper sensors. Performance line bearings doesnt want to work on them because they cant provide warranty on their repairs. Shimano designs their motors such that they shouldnt be serviced, but its not impossible. In fact i would say its pretty similar to working on car...

Article Is the Shimano EP8 a bad motor?

Ive had both of my Shimano batteries die while there was nothing obviously wrong with it. They just bricked themselves. Ive got them somewhat working again by bypassing the battery BMS, but its far from perfect. My Shimano E8000 has had its bearings replaced and now needs a new clutch mechanism...

Mileage / km - chain and cassette life on Shimano SLX, CS-M7100, 12-speed, 10-51t

I dont bother with switching out chains to save on cassette wear. Chains cost a lot too you know. I just ride them until they fail, or shifting performance is starting to deteriorate. My bike is approaching 9000km and it is on its 2nd SLX cassette and 2nd SLX chain. Mostly dry, dusty riding...

    Cassette replacement purchase question

FWIW, you can buy the sprockets on Ali too. Just search for "M8100 sprocket" and you will get some hits. Ive ordered from 0086bike Store and Chaser Store in the past without problems. The small sprockets are interchangeable between M6100, M7100 and M8100.

    Shimano D03S alternatives.

The H03A and H03C are identical to the D03S, with the exception of a cooling fin on top. For certain calipers you can use both. For example the BR-MT520 works with D03S, but will also work with H03A / H03C (even though shimano does not officially lists them as supported).

Charging ebike battery from a leasure battery?

LiFePO4 can go down to 0% if you like, and even then you probably have some left over. Thats because rated capacity is usually at 1C, meaning 100A for a 100Ah battery. But at the lower currents we usually run at, like 10A, it will do 5-10% more than rated. I run a 160Ah LiFePO4, which i can...
