    Trek eMTB Survey

A frameset option would be great, it would save all the headache of replacing OEM parts that we don't want. But it also allows us to upgrade without buying a complete bike.

    Trek eMTB Survey

+1 for the bottle cage Range Extender. I would like to see a smaller swappable internal battery for shorter warmup days to make the bike lighter. I would to also see is a "Frame, Motor, Battery and Controller package" instead a full bike, since the OEM parts aren't best.

Im trying to figure something out with a backup wheel setup.

Actually they’re pretty decent, I rode the Alloy version almost for a year, before upgrading to the carbon versions. The major difference I found was that Carbon version was much stiffer, especially on the trails.

Im trying to figure something out with a backup wheel setup.

Been planning on getting a second wheels for riding in urban city riding and tours. Currently have a set Bontrager Line Elite (Carbon) wheels with a Minion DHF 2.5”, Aggressor 2.5” and Tannus Tubeless Armor. These are great on dirt, but sprints on the pavement is a drag. Recently picked up a new...

    Lightest Rail Build?.

I always wondered, might not be worth to them, if Bosch would have produced a 300w Power tube, for those short ride days and even for bike park with lifts. I assume is could in theory be close to half of the weight of the original battery.

Curious to know, what's your Rail's wheel size limits?

Has anybody here have a higher wheels size limit than 91.37" (2320.8mm). The highest limit is exactly to a 29x2.3" tire, based on the Cateye's tire chart (for reference). If I do a roll-out measurement, I get 92.5" on my current 29x2.5" Maxxis Aggressor. Curious to know what wheel size you have...

    Suspension air pressure

Usually if I feel or notice the suspension being less supportive. Also the night before riding some new trail, to double check the sag points. But in general I carry a shock pump, if I need to make any changes.

Trek rail fork upgrades / extra thick crown

IMO and tinkering with my bikes for many years, I have learned to use what I have, but also it would be nice to have certain tools. Then again installation of certain things like headset race are way easier now compared to my BMX days, sitting there with a harden steel screwdriver, hammer and...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

What matters is the "eye to eye" 230mm measurement the stroke can be reduce to the required 57.5mm with a 7.5mm spring clip spacer. https://dvosuspension.com/product/spring-clip/

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Yes the volume will affected the overall feel from my experience, putting more volume spacer should drop the pressure needed in the shock and it will feel stiffer. If you close to max at weight, sounds like you would need the extra spacers. Also dont forget to equalize the positive and negative...

Trek rail fork upgrades / extra thick crown

The Race wouldn't have the cutout the crown of the fork would have it. As long it lays flat for the bearing to rotate smoothly is important. If you're brave, you could cut a thin slit into the race, so its easier to install and remove. What I have done to install races without a tool at home...

Trek rail fork upgrades / extra thick crown

look for the notch generally on the back of the race, use a small enough screwdriver and wedge it there with a mallet or hammer. It should pop up a bit and work your way around the race till it’s free. Putting a few drops of oil around race wouldn’t hurt either.

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Dont have a DPX2, but I would try bumping up to 25% sag and/or slowing the rebound down. Here's what's in the Fox manual: https://www.ridefox.com/dl/bike/605-00-159-FLOAT-DPX2-Tuning-Guide-white-revA.pdf Additional tuning options Volume Spacers Changing volume spacers in the shock is an...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Looks like someone has. The stroke doesnt matter, since that can be limited (to the required stroke of 57.5mm) with spacer or larger bumpers. https://www.emtbforums.com/community/threads/trek-rail-with-fox-dhx2-coil.9787/

    Frame protection

I made two mud guards that overlap, one attached to upper linkage and the other on the bottom linkage. Cost me about $5 for all of the material needed and it works great for my needs. It might not be the best solution for muddy condition.

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Finally got my DVO JadeX (230mm x 57.5mm) fitted to a 2020 Rail 9.7 (medium), after a few months of waiting. Originally wanted a Topaz3, but the piggy back was too long and didn't allow for full travel of the shock. The JadeX fits great on the medium Rail, with the original mounting hardware...

    Custom eMTB Lite mode

Of course not, but it does help IMO. But in your case, you riding in ECO and returning with 50% battery, and your wife riding in TOUR & returning with 40% battery, sounds about right to me. Thats because new update EMTB Lite (Tour) powers varies from 120% to 240% output, while ECO just gives 60%...
