    OChain on a Bosch Gen4

I did write OChain, here's what they said: " The Ochain for Bosh version will be out from December, our worldwide preview will be at the EICMA FIERA in Milan, for a very special Collaboration with an Italian new Ebike brand. Best regards, Enrico. " That said, taking the chain off as I...

    OChain on a Bosch Gen4

Certainly won't but I would bet it decreases it markedly.

    OChain on a Bosch Gen4

I am interested in trying it as I like a quiet bike, honestly that's my biggest reason. Biggest con is reduces pedal engagement in a pretty significant way. Descents are definitely my focus ? but I do like a good technical climb of which we have many, many here in Colorado. If I can determine...

    OChain on a Bosch Gen4

Yes, I'll reach out to OChain. Lol on their ad writing, however these things are on many pros in both DH and EWS bikes and they are talking them up. So there's that. The main thing though for an emtb is that anything that can isolate the clutch same would be a huge winner.

    OChain on a Bosch Gen4

As the title says, will an OChain work on a Bosch Gen4 with Sram cranks? I think the OChain could be really good for emtbs; it will isolate the clutch to a degree and should help suspension action for most designs. OCHAIN MTB ACTIVE SPIDER PEDAL KICKBACK SOLUTION I've got a '21 Trek Rail and...

Knock-Block failed - Trek Rail 9.8 carbon frame damage

I did end up buying a Rail and did end up installing a Slack R kit from 9.8. This in effect includes a spacer so it can be used to ditch the knock bloc system. I went with the 1.7 HA reduction. It's pretty slack but the Rail now is really good on steep terrain. Very much feels like a DH bike...

Knock-Block failed - Trek Rail 9.8 carbon frame damage

So has anyone installed the Slack-R from 9.8? I'm strongly thinking of doing that as the direction I want my newly acquired Rail to take would benefit from it. It looks like a well thought out product.

Levo Gen 3 Official Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

Nice. Not too surprising Specialized would give a full range of kits, they don't do anything halfway. One would look good on the S5 Expert I'll be ordering. Just saying ;)

Levo Gen 3 Official Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

Wow, must say I like that greatly. I have a full RideWrap kit on my '21 Evo and they make a quality product. What frame size are the kits in the launch materials for?

Levo Gen 3 Official Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

That Expert spec looks quite good. Hopefully they do a full X01 drivetrain and not the usual shenanigans of X01 shifter and rear mech but GX cassette and chain. Not as big of a deal on emtb but the GX cassette is quite a lot heavier and that's unsprung weight. I upgraded the GX cassette and...

Levo Gen 3 Official Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

Code RS brakes have the swing link, just not the pad contact dial. They are great brakes really and have all of the stopping power of Code RSC. Code R is slightly less powerful without the swing link. I have the Code RS on my '21 Evo and they are just as good as RSCs I have on other bikes.

    Levo Gen 2 I can't afford a new 22 Carbon Levo

First time I've seen proposed Expert pricing, that accurate? Anyway, the pricing is not all that bad when one remembers what SWorks pricing was, it's not much more than the '20. Add me to another camp. Can afford it but is above a threshold and triggers my value sensibilities. Also I want...

Levo Gen 3 Official Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

Good post. Also the data point on only getting 4k of climbing out of a 630wh Shimano setup and meanwhile someone else getting 8k vert out of a 700wh Specialized setup is why Specialized is king of emtbs. I like my Commencal but it just doesn't have the capacity or efficiency to satisfy how...

I think the Marin is a solid entry. I like longer chain stays for my size but it's on the table for my wife. Price is definitely good.

Not a bad point. Here's a ride where I got the most vert yet on my '20. I did not push to a dead battery so probably had 10% maybe 15% left. Our climbing is really steep and that definitely affects range. https://www.strava.com/activities/3342986805

Right, 20% more climbing would put me at 5500' really eeking that out. Shimano claims efficiency increases on EP8 which is really what I'm inquiring about I suppose. These bikes do rock, I love my '20 and I know the '21 will be better. I just want more range.

So I see some ride reports and it does look like range is definitely increased. Is anyone coming from an E8000 bike and can share how much more range they are getting? Really I am interested in how much vertical one can get in on a ride. Our riding here in CO is mostly steep climbs and...

Article Testing the new Shimano EP8 motor

What about range per kWh? E8000 on middle assist trail is plenty of power for me on even the steepest gnar in CO so the power upmanship doesn't concern me. I want efficiency. Look at EVs and what Tesla has been able to do with the range on their pack sizes then compare to say the Audi E-tron...

Article Testing the new Shimano EP8 motor

As for the test on range, do one in Boost and one in Trail. Again people don't ride an entire ride in boost unless they are short on time, going to do a short ride only or have some much battery capacity it doesn't matter. As for the latter that's not the case with any 504wh Shimano system so...

Article Testing the new Shimano EP8 motor

This, except don't ride in boost. Ride purely in Trail. Boost is fine and all but for most not a widely used mode and I think will be even less used with the extra torque of the EP8.
