Switching from 2019 VR to 2021 VRS - any regrets?

Just a query really - has anyone here upgraded to the 2021 model from a 2019 VR? Did you regret it? I'm attracted to the new and shiny thing... but it looks like the only things I'm gaining in the upgrade are a slightly more powerful motor, a bigger battery and 3kg of mass.

Just a heads up - Firmware 'fix' for the E8000

Long story short, back in early April my motor died (W013, E010 errors). The torque sensor was dead. It was confirmed at my local Shimano dealership & sent off to Madison. They had it for over a week before looking at it, and another 2 weeks to 'fix' the issue - not with a new motor, or torque...

    504wH battery - uk stock?

It's a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone knew of UK stores with the 504wH battery in stock? I've decided to purchase a second battery for bike park days :)

    Battery replacement

Morning :) (2019 E-sommet VR, 1600kms) Last week I joined a few fellow Ebikers & took part in a pretty epic night ride. They were all on new-ish 600+ wH machines. The ambient temp was just below freezing. We covered about 20 miles with a lot of climbing, and reached a decision point on the...

    Rear hub bearings - source?

I'm pretty sure the bearings on my VR (2019, 600ish KM) are knackered. The disc side feels gritty, there's a ticking noise under pedal load coming from that area. Boost mode also doesn't feel as pokey, and I'm sure I'm not imagining a sensation of increased drag. So I'm going to try and...

    Spank oozy vibrocore 760mm

I had the chance to try these bars out tonight at BPW (night session). I wasn't expecting to be blown away. But I was. For the first 3 runs I had absolutely no arm pump whatsoever. And I was pushing. Compared to the OE nukeproof bars it was like someone had given me a front end made of butter...

Glad I listened to the users here!

I've had my VR for almost 7 weeks now. I was 'lucky' enough to get laid off from my old job within a few days of the purchase, so I've had plenty of time to ride - just over 215km showing so far. The only problems I've hit (apart from the paint finish) have been the battery disconnecting -...

second proper clean, paintwork is awful!

So I'm a couple of weeks into E-sommet VR ownership, and I'm enjoying how the bike rides. I was pretty shocked to see how bad the paintwork is on the frame though - especially the crossbar. I'm not aggressive when it comes to cleaning. I use muc-off & a soft brush on the heavily soiled bits...

    Bike park wales today

I was chatting regularly with the lad in charge of uplifts today, and apparently there were two guys on EBikes who hadn't paid to enter the park! We saw them on the uplift road. One fella on a Vitus, the other on a haibike. That takes 'cheating' to a whole new level...

    gear indexing

So I've pretty much got my E-sommet VR ready for it's first proper ride (bought from CRC). I couldn't check the cassette lockring torque because I don't have the tool - it'll hopefully arrive tomorrow. I spent a good 15 minutes checking the shifter operation on the workstand after reading...

    Stick, upgrade, change? (upgrade-itis)

I've been riding my Jam2 plus pro a lot since I got it in March. I'm learning and pushing and it's been a hoot so far. My riding has been a balance of local trails & bike parks. I'm starting to tackle bigger obstacles at higher speeds. My Jam2 is completely stock, suspension wise, and I can't...

    brakes - upgrade or bleed?

During last night's ride, on a tarmac section, I noticed that my rear brake didn't have enough power to lock the rear wheel, even if I put all my weight over the handlebars. Even with me off the bike and pushing, with the lever pulled almost right in, the wheel wouldn't lock. Both levers feel...

    Pedal strikes

I had a few clangers this morning - directly into the rhs crank arm. Bad enough to score the alloy! Is this something I should be worried about?

Thule bike adapters for an easybase 949

I thought I'd ask here; I already have a thule 949 easybase towbar mounted carrier for my transit camper. It came with the bike adapter rails & wheel clamps - but they're not big enough for the 2.8 inch recon+ tyres on my Jam2. I was wondering if anyone here knows of bigger wheel clamps...

    Warranty transfer? Is this normal?

The original owner of my Focus Jam2 purchased it new from Rutland Cycling in January this year - it's just over 3 months old. So in theory, there should be 21 months of warranty left? Apparently not! After enquiring with Focus bikes on FB, Focus will only acknowledge warranty claims in the...

    replacement spare wheelsets

I attempted to swap over my Maxxis recons for Schwalbe Big Bens yesterday. I managed to do the front, but trapped the rear inner tube under the bead, ripping a hole in it once the bead seated on the rim. It took me over an hour and was a pig of a job. I think my idea of changing them back for...

Talk some sense into me (HT vs FS)!

Here's the dilemma. I used to have a cube HPA race 500 hard tail for commuting up until about a year ago. It was great, and pretty handy off-road on gentle singletrack stuff. Then my Daughter arrived and I found I didn't have time to ride for fun anymore. And I rarely used it for commuting, so...
