Bosch power chewing up chains and cassettes

I don't like the CC-2 because the readings are influenced by how hard you press the checker. I prefer the CC-4 as its the most repeatable and aligns with pin to pin measurements I've done. IME on analog bikes, even with a thousand or two miles on a single bike, I've never seen 0.5% wear...

Bosch power chewing up chains and cassettes

Nor a M6100 chain... looks like a SLX cassette (1 aluminum gear) and KMC chain. My bike came with a M6100/Deore chain and it wore out at 250 miles. Now I got a XT chain, which I run on all my analog bikes. We'll see if it lasts any longer. At this rate, once the drivetrain wears... I'll...

Bosch power chewing up chains and cassettes

2500 KM per cassette and chain... yea, seems par of the course with ebikes. Though generally you should get 2-3 chains per cassette, as long as you replace the chain early enough. At first signs of 0.5% wear. I just wore out a 12spd Deore chain in 230 miles on a Bosch CX bike.

How are you lot washing your bikes without contaminating your pads and rotors?

Any soap or degreaser without added "shine", "enhancers" or "waxes" works fine... I've never had issues. I generally use automotive soaps, as their more versatile and less expensive than bike specific cleaners.

How to measure on which gear chain is straight (non crossed)?

What is a 155 driveline? Do you mean 157 super boost hub spacing? Because predominately today MTBs are 148 (boost) and some are 157 (superboost) hub spacing. Regarding CL, 52/55 is the norm with boost and 57 with super boost.

How to measure on which gear chain is straight (non crossed)?

52 mm CL is typical for modern 142/148 mm spacing, whereas 135 is older QR spacing before 12 spd. So yea, its not ideal CL...

Derailleur broken by a wooden stick...

Did the cage of the derailleur go into the wheel spokes? It's hard to tell from the video... but I'd say best case you just need a new upper jockey wheel. I'd anticipate buying a new derailleur. Inspect the chain, are any of the links twisted? Cassette, same inspect for bent or broken teeth...

Dutch trial of 12mph bike lanes - speed and power limit discussion

In theory sure, but someone opposing this legislation will argue, "if the problem is traveling faster than 12 mph, then it should apply to all cyclist. However, non-ebike cyclists have no way to gauge their speed reliably." I'm not aware of a requirement for a speedometer on ebikes either...

    SRAM and Shimano

I've run Shimano 12 spd shifter and RD with SRAM 12 spd mechanical cassette and chain... worked fine. I would measure the cog spacing on both your cassettes. If it's very close, then it should work fine.... like it did for me. Granted I wasn't swapping wheel sets, I just hated the cheap NX...

Who actually wants more than 85nm and 400%

I think he means pro athletes... Obviously opinion, but its a bit philosophical in "what is or what should e/MTB be". MTB is always going to be harder than eMTB. However you can do things on an eMTB you can't on a MTB. You can also make eMTB as hard as you want. Human nature, folks don't...

    Race: Avinox M1 vs M2S

You don't know the weight, nor the power input of both riders... plus smaller details like tires and maybe class setting depedning on their speed. So the video isn't useful.

    Authorities are waking up...

The problem is really the way the regulations are written in the US and EU, if we want to believe that motors should only output mechanically 250W and/or 750W peak. We could argue Avinox is pushing the boundaries, but I bet their complaint. Their position is less conservative than say Bosch, for...

CX Gen 5 pedal ratchet and ticking

Coming from a Shimano EP801 I notice the Bosch CX gen 5 is a lot noisier when backpedaling or coasting. The Shimano must have used a sprag clutch on both the pedal input and motor output to the drive spline for chain ring. It was silent back pedaling it. On the Bosch, its quite noisy and...

Crestline RS 181.2 thread – builds, reviews, technical info

That's tough... a 160 mm dropper in the 4 months I rode the bike was fine and I adapted. I was also limited in certain aspects because the frame kept cracking and then breaking (2 frames in 4 months). Honestly, I'd rather have more dropper than whatever the VPP offered on that particular bike...

Crestline RS 181.2 thread – builds, reviews, technical info

I've had this problem, not Crestline specific, but another VPP style bike. I'm 5'9" with a 32" inseam (floor to nuts), but I only run my saddles roughly 702 mm (BB to saddle top) with 165 cranks. On my current eMTB I'm running the saddle at 707 mm with 160 cranks. Years back I got fitted for...

    Fox fork query

Picture? Fox 36/38 forks using a kabolt axle require a two step installation. First the axle is tightened with the pinch bolt loosened (right leg) and then the pinch bolt is tightened. The right leg "floats" allowing alignment of legs prior to tightening the pinch bolt. QR axles require a...
