Anyone have any information or rumors on an AVINOX 900+wh battery?

same. the cells weight 1g more. 40 cells... so i would say the same.

The availability is the problem. Molicell wanted to deliver the cells in september last year...
and now the date is moved month for month



avinox is not discharging to 2,5V so they don't use the full capacity, but the Cell last longer. (good).

a 10s4p config would mean 40 cells. that would be 936Wh max in the datasheet. a little bit unter 900Wh in reality


there are other cells with 6,6Ah aviable, but they can't handle the load in turbo.

I think is ~3g more per cell so 40 * 3 = ~120g heavier than the current FS800 battery

I have the new 700wh and have held it side by side with the 800. It’s pretty incredible how much lighter it feels in hand and how slim it is. Idk the numbers, should have weighed them, but sold the bike that had the 800.
 
Problem with the 700Wh (beside 700Wh), is the formfactor. It is super long.

Not really, weight difference with wh equalized is minimal: FS700 3.18kg at purely theoretical 800wh would be 3.63kg vs 3.74kg of the FS800, 110g not that much difference.

The only real advantage is the slim tube with the issue that 700wh is the only capacity doable with this cells.
The problem with the cells of the FS700 is that you can only create a 700wh or 1400wh that would be twice the length or twice the width both not practical for an emtb.

Unless they for the next generation Amflow bike decide to create a slightly thicker version of the Ampace 50480 cell.

Just a slight cca 4mm increase in diameter would raise the capacity to cca 80Wh. Total pack capacity would then be cca 800Wh.
The con would be decreased cooling properties as the heat would have a longer path to reach the outside and cca 400g higher weight, so cca 3,6kg.

Just for an example,to reach cca 90Wh cell capacity(pack cca 900Wh) they would need to increase the diameter to cca 57mm so a 7mm increase, that's a measly 3,5mm on every side, I doubt that that difference would be visible with the naked eye from a distance. The con again cooling properties and a cca 700g weight increase bringing us to 3,9kg for the pack.

A slight increase of the downtube diameter isn't that hard when developing at their pace I guess. The only question is, is there enough market demand for large batteries like the 900Wh, I guess that the main driver of development.

Great breakdown, that 700/1400 gap is such a weird spot to be stuck in.

I am a fan of higher voltage than 36v, so.... What if they just added one more cell and went 11s instead? Bumps you from 36V to 40V, which is a way sweeter spot for power and efficiency. Pack only grows like 10% in length (which would be doable, surely) , and you'd get maybe 10% more capacity too, so like 770 Wh instead of that awkward 700.

Doubling the whole thing is not an option so this seems to hit some high points, a more contemporary voltage, bump to a near ideal wh capacity and minimal height increase with same diameter. If the new cells give an increase in efficiency it could be a match for the 800wh battery that seems to be the benchmark to hit.

i also would prefer 48V,

but the Battery is already very very long. 10% would not even fit in the L Frame any more.

32" XL bike would be ok i guess..

More options are better, in terms of having the right fit for everyone, but that doesn't necessarily justify the business case for each of these sizes. For me, personally, the value of the 900wh will depend on how much they build out their range extender offerings. If they had a reasonably light and compact 300wh range extender, in addition to the 480wh and 600wh that they've already shown, then a bigger main battery would lose it's appeal, but if they're going to drag their feet on the RE offerings, I could see a bigger main battery being valuable for some use cases.

What's coming on 27th Jan? The new TQ Treks with the 900wh battery?
 
Seth works at a bike shop and it looks like he is aware of the new TQ120. Or maybe he just reads the forums?

That said, I lot of these guys are all in on E-CVT so who cares about the Avinox 900wh or the TQ120?

For me, the battery advancements are more interesting than the motors as we are way past the power point of having a bunch of power with enough battery to power it, and a <22kg enduro bike.
 
Probably repeating myself here, but the RS and FS battery types (not even talking about FP700) really make it hard to know what bike to buy today.

If I knew today that a RS800 equiped bike would definitely get an RS900 replacement I would go order an AMFLOW PR today (I don't know what other bikes use that battery...). If I bought my dream bike, the Orbea Wild LT today with a FS800 and a few months from now they announce the FS900 I'd be pretty pissed at the replacement faff, cost and presumably difficulty in reselling the original FS800.

For me personally: hot swappable 800Wh (with another 800 or even 600Wh) is the best system right now. 800WH fixed battery with fast charger, would be ok, but a downgrade. Now a fast charging 900Wh with powerbank in the car (eventually v2l in electric car) would be an upgrade.

i ordered the wild lt :-) reselling will be no Problem - i could use a second one.
swapping the battery is nothing you would do every day. but it is possible in 10min.
i will do so if i need 2 batterys a day and can't recharge
