An update, I used bsst to check settings, all were set to very low levels of support.I have changed levels and after a short ride in my local woods the motor now runs very well, no more feeling like the brakes are on when I hit 25kph, but it’s still noisy compared to v3 version

Can someone please help me clarify something.
I have a m510 FC2 and I am building a bike with it. I bought a chainring separately on AliExpress stating it was for M510.
However when mounting it and screwing it in with the lock ring the spider is rubbing against the motor. The metal on the "back" of the chainring seems to shallow and let's it go too near the motor.
Am I missing some spacer? Are there different variants of spider for M510 and I bought the wrong one? Did I buy the right one and was sent the wrong part?
Edit: Some versions I have seen seem totally flush here? Some pictures it seems slightly "sunk in" like mine. I am completely clueless at the moment...

Black spider - default spider for all my m510 motors, work on E10 frame,
no spacers, motor - spider - lock ring
extension and chainring mount - don't look at it - this is for fatbike

Yes, there was older spiders which fit to M500, M600 and had shorter collar. Also had noticed this. Or new motor case of M510 M560 has higher collar. It is mess. I had even file down 1mm of the collar on the motor case on M560, to fit my custom chainring.

So I got this one now. Exact same f*cking spider as the one I have.
Can someone please direct me to one that fits if you know... I neither have time or money to keep guessing and waiting 2 weeks for delivery.. Could it be sorted out with some spacer? I don't get it. I order spider from 2 different places both stating "FOR M510, M560" neither which fits.. I give up.

Maybe not. I'm a collector of this useless piece of metal at the moment. Way too short to fit on the motor. Gets completely flush with the motors metal case and rubs... At this point I'm not even sure if the motor is the problem or what the f is going on.
The distance/length of these ones are like ~3.5mm but the distance from the motor case to the point they should touch is like at least 4.5-5mm...
Looking at the picture here it doesn't even look like i have received the same spider as in the image...

Be a bit careful with the spiders that do not have that wide flat just beyond the engine case. I tend to have an engine failure each winter riding in the mud and slop we have in the U.K. I have put that down to using one of the spiders with the non flat section. That scooped out area allows the mud laden with fine sand and grit to sit in that area and the consequent damage that does to the outer seal, which in my view is facing the wrong direction.Maybe not. I mean sure. But the problem right now is that the spider doesn't fit at all so there won't be any riding going on whatsoever as long as all the spiders I order "for m510,m560" and so on aren't the correct depth.. Or is my brand new motor trash/defective somehow?
I really don't get what's wrong here.
Can some people shed some light on this? How's the distance looking on your motors and what spiders have you fit?
For starters. Is this space normal? I guess not since none of the "for m510" spiders fit?

That looks normal as the seal pushes in from within the case. You need to measure the distance from the position where the spider sits on the crank outwards to where the circular raised area is on the case. I would suggest your crank is sitting to deep towards the non drive side for some reason.

Not a spider issue, but a traditional error 30 issue, I'm afraid! I swear Ive read every thread but was there ever a consensus fix ?? Previously I had the 'display malfunction' which turned out fine and was cured by replacing the PCB connecter board. But after enduring some prolonged and heavy rain I keep getting error 30, and no amount of drying has corrected that. Should I buy a new controller board and/or a new connector board and a 'Flash' /Besst device to reprogram it? I broke open the motor and there may hav been a drop of water in there, but motor is still fresh with no apparent corrosion.

what display are U using? check the cable from switch button to display, some problem exist from broken cable. either cable from switch to display or from motor to display. Also cable for speed sensor.

Err30 is normally a fault between the display and motor. I get it sometimes if the connector becomes ever so slightly pulled out of the display ( tree branches and bramble tends to slowly dislodge the connectors on the DPC245 ). Perhaps check that the connector is fully inserted into the display ?

If water has entered the motor then you may need to replace the ribbon cable ( usual symptom of the ribbon cable failure is the motor gets hard to turn on and off ).

I am much obliged for your advice, and am sure the motor seemed stiff to turn before I opened and dried it. It seems to be free'er to turn either way now that it is dried and reassembled. I shall check soon. I have two displays, both dpc 045. The display shows error 30 but also indicates the battery is at 0%, though there is 41v at the motor-battery connector. The bike is out in the fierce summer heat we hav here in scotland, surely no dampness can survive our peaks of 23 degrees?

I haven't posted for quite some time - been out enjoying the E10 for a number of years now, without any major issues
I do now have a niggling issue that I can't find an answer for on the forums.
After riding a rough DH trail, my motor often seems to loose power when trying to climb straight back up the hill. I would say the power available (in all mode settings) feels like 50% of the Eco setting. You get the odd 'burst' of power by increasing pedaling speed (causing a kangaroo ride), but that's it.
If I turn the main power off and back on again, everything seems to return to normal?
I'm thinking possibly a torque sensor issue maybe?
Any thoughts please?

Sounds as though the outer seal is worn and letting in water though the seal, on through that outer bearing and then onto the main controller board. Its the same fault I get every winter.
You can normally begin to see an ever slight movement toward the motor of the peddle if you try and force it by hand in and outwards at the top of the peddle stroke.
Do replace that outer seal and bearing ASAP as the water eventually will damage the torque sensor on the crank.
I'm on test phase of packing the gap between the spider and motor with marine grease to try and stop the water and grit getting down against the seal. As soon as I've done 500 miles I'll take the spider off and have a look. Plan is to fit a small grease nipple on the spider to refresh the grease. Also the M820 has that seal reversed and I agree, we want to stop water getting in, not out.

so in your link spider is correct with S2 mark, but you get different spider, contact seller - his fault

Interesting. For sure there are different versions then.. I have now ordered a CW G522.A which according to official bafang documents should fit. Found some store in EU thankfully so might get it early next week. Let's see...
That's my suspicion they sent an older version that just fit some motors.. They claim "it's always been same". I'm considering disputing via PayPal since it's obvious it's not the same as in the image...
Another update, after several more rides, the motor has become a lot quieter.

Ah, I have to clarify what I meant when I mentioned another ‘update’ - I was just providing additional information to my comments in my previous post about the motor. Sorry for the confusion!
If you have the speed sensor magnet attached to the spokes, check it has not been knocked out of alignment, some times that can cause what you are experiencing, and as mentioned an issue with the torque sensor, I vaguely recall my mate had an issue with a part on his torque sensor becoming dislodged.Hello all.

I have the rotor mounted speed senor magnet and have checked it's still tightly attached, so can rule that one out.
I've ordered a 'spare' torque sensor from Chili Shen just in case it's on the way out.
