  • Subject: Magnetic ring request – Shimano E8000

    Hello,
Thanks to your help, I replaced the 8 internal bearings on my E8000 motor.
Unfortunately, the ring magnet near the torque sensor broke during disassembly.
I glued it back with epoxy; the motor works but has a small jerk at startup.
Could you sell me a replacement magnetic ring? I live in France.
    Best regards,

    Hello,
I recently replaced all the cells in a Specialized Turbo Vado battery, not realizing that the BMS would lock when the batteries were disconnected. Can I send this BMS to you to be unlocked? Please email me at [email protected].

    Thanks, Seth

    Hello,
I saw your posts about specialized batteries. I have a problem with a DerbyCycle 170817059 battery. I found it also uses a renesas r5f2134. I found one cell group had dropped to 3,00V and one to 3,80V , while the others were around 4,07V. I tried manually balancing the battery with some success but I suspect the BMS has set a PF flag. Please contact me at [email protected].
    Best regards, Dawid

That is ok. I m currently in South africa. I will be back in Serbia mid july. How can I contact you to arrange for me to come and bring you the battery for repair?
Any advice on how the display and motor comms with the battery via the blue and green wires would be much appreciated

I have a PicoScope which has serial CAM function so will test with that.

Connected the PicoScope to the battery CAM bus lines and loads of comms going on clear data. Tested the same data lines going up to the display and there is nothing at all on the data lines. Removed the motor control PCB and can see a data chip on the back of the incoming Data Lines from the battery so seems this is dead
I tried connecting the app to the bike, at the start it finds the Bike ID but fails to connect.

I tried connecting a remote second display via bluetooth and that connected to the display correctly but just flashes the same message no battery / no motor
When i turn the battery on it shows all power LED's on and all seems happy with full battery volts then connected to the motor output drivers but the display shows No battery / No Motor flashing
I have checked inside the battery and all is clean and connections.
The battery power volts arrives in the motor ok.
The battery has blue and green wires which appear to be data communication to the motor and display.
Any advice on how to test the comms ? and how to test for faults ?
    Hi Cream,
    A friend has a Specialized turbo como 4.0 2019 - SBC B11 :
Battery shows fully charged and all cells show good:
The display says No battery and No motor flashing

    many thanks for your expertise

We would be very grateful if you could help us, because we use the bike and take our daughter to kindergarten with it every day.
    Thanks!

    Suggestion:
We think that for some reason the BMS has disconnected the battery and we can't start it back.
    Question:
Is it possible to send you the battery to check the software or possibly reinstall it?
    What I did:
3.0. I disassembled the battery, measured the voltage of all the cells. And found that all cells were working. The voltage is 36 volts with each cell having between 3.4 and 3.6 volts. I took the battery to a friend. He works for a Bulgarian microsatellite manufacturing company and is a circuit board professional. He measured everything and found, no problem with the circuit board. All fuses work.

Between 3.4 and 3.6 there's a big difference, the BMS will lock only based on that. Each cell banks must be within 20-30mV from each other on a healthy pack. If you have 200mV difference OCV, most likely in load you'll have more accentuated on lower charge level. Also, your charging circuit seems faulty, because of the external short you created.

    Second problem:
2.1 After that it would turn on the bike. It didn't respond. No light or indicator are working. The battery is totally dead.
    First problem:
2.0 I plugged in the charger and it would not charge. I put it back on the bike and did a test via the app. The battery gave an error with one of the cells, but wrote out that it might cause a lower mileage. Again, everything worked except the charging. I left the battery disconnected and removed from the bike for a few hours.
    How it happened:
    1. Out of jealousy while removing the battery I mistook the lock for the charging port. When I put the key in the port there was a small spark. After that the bike worked normally. No problems. The battery ran low and I decided to charge it.
Hi, my name is Gabriel. I'm writing to you regarding my wife's bike. The bike is a 2019 Specialized turbo como 4.0. I decided to reach out to you because from what I have read on the forum, you are the only one who can help us. The problem is with the battery on the bike - SBC B10 504 Wh 36V
