The new Karve EVO 180mm is on shop floors in the UK now and the Karve 160mm is due to land in early August according to my LBS.
Are there any owners of the new Karve out there who have successfully used the VPN method to set region to NZ or Hong Kong to bypass EU / UK speed restriction?
There’s some speculation and comments on forums that this no longer works but equally theres others that report it works fine. I’ve got a Karve on order but if it’s true that its no longer possible to bypass the speed limit on new bikes then i might reconsider.

The retailer's setup does not block this override because of how DJI's region l²ocking logic is tied to your phone and user account, rather than permanently burned into the motor's physical brain at the factory.

## Why the Retailer Setup Doesn't Block You
* **The "Primary" Phone Bind:** When the retailer sets up or updates the bike's software, they are either updating the bike’s firmware directly via their own shop tools, or pairing it to a temporary shop profile.
* **The Location Check is Dynamic:** The DJI Avinox system reads the location *each time* a new phone pairs with the bike as the primary user, or when the primary user's app syncs after a fresh login.
* **The Bike Adapts to its Owner:** The second you bind the bike to **your** DJI/Avinox account on your own phone, the bike's system updates its regional settings to match whatever location your phone's GPS is reporting at that exact moment.
## How to Apply the Spoof (Once You Take Delivery)
To successfully force the bike into the higher speed limit mode on your own phone, follow this sequence:
1. Unbind the bike (if needed)
DJI App Settings
If the retailer paired the bike to a shop account or test profile, have them unbind it, or simply log out and reset the Bluetooth connection from the bike's top-tube OLED screen.
2. Turn on your Spoofing App
On your phone
Open your recommended GPS spoofing app (like Fake GPS by Lexa). Set your location to the United States (for 32 km/h / 20 mph) or New Zealand (for 45 km/h / 28 mph). Keep the spoofing app running in the background.
3. Open the DJI Avinox App
On your phone
Log in to your own DJI account. Because your phone is spoofing its location, the Avinox app will believe you are setting up the bike in your chosen region.
4. Pair and Bind your bike
Via Bluetooth
Turn on your bike and pair it to your phone. The app will configure the bike's motor controller with the higher speed profiles (e.g., US Class 1 or NZ region).
5. Verify and Turn Off
Check the display
Go into the assist settings on the top tube OLED display to ensure the new limits are reflected. Once confirmed, you can close the spoofing app and turn your real GPS back on. The bike's configuration will remain locked to the higher speed limits until you perform a full system reset.
