Mondraker Zendit Avinox

My truck can probably hit 220km/hr. I maybe max out at 150km if I’m passing on the highway, and boy does that V8 suck back the gas when doing so…

I appreciate hearing the experiences of actual riders. All these new bikes seem so good that it’s to make a decision on which way to go.
I have just over 100 miles on my Zendit and can personally attest it's a great all-round bike that performs well on various trail conditions.

I'm not a racer, but no slouch either. I'm sure it would perform well for a hard-core racer or more aggressive rider, but I've been very impressed on well this bike rides and handles various types of trails.

A couple of my previous bikes were great racers (Yeti 160e & Specialized Kenevo) and the faster you rode them, the better they performed. The engineering and technology that went into the frame design on the Zendit is legit. Very stable rear end when climbing, front wheel tracks much better then my previous Wilds (even with a more powerful motor) on steep climbs and tight switchbacks and the Zero Suspension Technology improves how the bike descends.

My custom Zendit is a little better of a climber than my last 2 Orbea Wilds and a better descender. I only compare it to them because the Zendit reminds me many ways on how versatile the Wild was and how fun it was to ride.

Haven't been able to ride the new Avinox powered Wild and am a little reluctant to compare bikes that have different components, but out of all the bikes I've owned, borrowed and rented if I had to choose one it would be the Zendit.

Also, to be transparent I literally changed every component, nut and bolt on my Zendit (as I do on most of my bikes) to my personal preference s so it may have different riding charteristics then the stock RR model reviewed in the video.

Legit critiques on the Zendit are the limited length dropper you can run plus the stock rear shock & wheelset dont seem to be on the same level as the rest of the bike.

It's a very exciting time right now to be an emtb enthusiast and there are lots of great bikes to choose from!
what did you change on your bike as far as suspension goes? I am really surprised on the shock choice on this bad boy out of the box. Would love to ride one and hear its comparisons to other new bikes that have come out. Where do you personally eel the bikes shines best?

I went with a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate rear shock specially tuned for the suspension kinematics of the Zendit and RockShox 2027 Zeb Ultimate for the fork (based on previous ride experience on my Crestline S180 and 2025 Orbea Wild).

As stated previously, I changed out every stock component on this bike to suit my personal preference and set it up as an all-mountain, climbing machine.

I just completed a 22 mile ride today on one of my favorite rides I have done many times over the last 5 years on 7 other emtb's. My custom Zendit performed better today than my other bikes. Ride had lots of technical climbing, tight switchbacks flowy singletrack and some rocky descents mainly on loose over hard teail conditions.

It took a few rides to dial in my suspension and psi tire settings. I created a couple custom power profiles in the Avinox app and made a couple edits on the trail today.

I rode primarily in the 2 custom settings I created for technical climbing and tight singletracks. Never thought I would say this, but I had to actually dial the power down. Only rode in Boost once and Turbo once on a long uphill fireroad for a brief time.

I am using SmoothShift more and more and like the 28mph feature for long stretches of access roads.

I think the Zendit is the best all-round bike I've ridden. My Crestline handles the dh better and climbs quite well in its own right. Two totally different animals set up for differt purposes. I would compare the Zendit to my 2025 Orbea Wild in regards to great all-rounder, excellent climber and fun factor.

I'm giving serious thought to the new Avinox powered Wild because I like to have a few bikes set up specifically for certain trail conditions.

I have watched and read a few reviews where it stated Zendit wants to ride fast (it most definitely does!) and performs the best when being pushed hard. I have found that it rides great on a wide variety of trail conditions and is far from a just being a dh sled. It's super agile, poppy and easy to control.

Realize components play a vital role on performance and the stock dropper, wheelset and rear shock on RR model are junk. Mondraker was probably trying to provide components for different pricing tiers, but they should have included better options for that price point.

The minimal dropper post insertion point and lack of ability to run 200+mm dropper are also a legitimate complaints, but ones I can live with.

After a few ‘harrowing’ rides on the Float X, I swapped it with the E-Storia off my Arrival.

Not even tuned for the Zendit, and it was a huge improvement.

I found the Float X got overwhelmed easi

Love this detailed response!! When you say you are looking at the new wild, what kind of riding are you thinking for it that you wouldn’t take the Zendit? They seem to be squarely in the same category, especially considering you have a Crestline. Thanks my man!

Oh, and I am not a fan of the 38. Had high hopes that the update solved the lack of mid-stroke support, but it has not.

It is super noticeable switching from my Ohlins equipped bike to the Zendit.

Unfortunately, the Era I was going to put on it does not have a long enough steertube…

That's a great question that actually crossed my mind after my ride today!

Was thinking about getting a full 29'er Wild and going with lighter weight components.

I actually have a new Crestline RS181.2 on its ways since I wanted to go with the Avinox eco system across the board on my bikes.

My riding buddy told me I should sell the new Crestline RS181.2 (already planned on sell Bosch Gen5 powered S180) and go with a 180/170 Wild!

nice! I put down a deposit on a wild but it’s not due to arrive until mid to late August but I’m not sure I can wait that long. Thinking about trying to find a Zendit or dread E or just wait for the wild. They all seem so good but different at the same time. If the mondraker came spec’d with different components/price it would probably be an immediate buy for me but I feel like I’ll also need to immediately change out parts which adds quite a bit to its already higher cost. Decisions decisions.

The Zendit RR S model for $12,999 usd is spec'd pretty nice with nice components.

Not sure of your preferences, but might be worth waiting on the Orbea since you have ability for different components to choose from and thry offer more build options/price points.

My main thing with the Zendit is the shock, I don’t really understand that spec choice but I’m sure mondraker has their reasons. I’ve never ridden a podium but am 100kg so by default lean towards a 38/zeb for stiffness purposes but I’m sure a podium would be fine, just heavy.

Well, since we get to spend your $$, I propose that you utilize the Zendit parts to build the new Wild so that you can get a truly back to back comparison so then, and only then you can determine which one gets your trail build and which one gets your Enduro build.
The Wild would appear to have a broader spectrum by virtue of being able to run dual 29er in the high position, or MX with a 180 fork and a > 200mm dropper.
Decisions...

The man himself, Brian Cahal published a very positive review of this beast today. I just may have to pull the trigger on this!! Maybe the RRS with the podium?? It is DAMN sexy. I’ve never ridden the podium though, how do people feel it fits on this bike?

It's an awesome bike! Very versatile and really fun to ride! Don't think you can wrong with this bike and recommend you go with RR S model at a minimum or make a few upgrades if you choose the RR model.

@Rob Rides EMTB has shared some opinions on the Fox Podium on his review of this bike. I went with the new RockShox Zeb Ultimate fork and RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock and really enjoying how they perform together.

Had a great ride today, more focused on technical climbing. The Avinox motor obviously climbs exceptionally well, but has many other features that really shine as well. The kinematics and suspension on the Zendit is world class!

did you find Zendit specific tune for your suspension swap?

I went with the stock 2027 Zeb Ultimate, no volume spacers and tried various psi and high/low speed compression settings and feel it's dialed it. It does take much higher psi then previous model, but not as much as recommended by Rockshox app.

For the rear shock, I did some research based upon the kinematics of the Zendit's suspension and how I wanted the bike to ride as well as conferring with Rockshox and ordered a custom tuned Super Deluxe Ultimate.

Here's a link to the video. Think Brian does a really good job of providing honest feedback on his reviews.

@Suns_PSD check out his comments near the end of the video about the power of the Avinox motor and how much we really need, lines getting blurred on how we define biking.

I'm obviously enjoying not just the power, but all the other features of the M2S motor. On my ride today I consciously rode in Boost and Turbo more than I normally would just to see for myself and absolutely obliterated some insane climbs.

Have a couple custom riding modes specifically for technical climbing and flowy singletracks that I dialed down the power and was super impressed with how they performed.

RR owner here. To really ride as intended, at a minimum I’d upgrade:
1. Brake Levers (I ended up with XTR’s, huge improvement)
2. Shock
3. Wheels (keep in mind if your new hub has an HD driver, you’ll need a new cassette)

you mean XD Driver.. The RR has an HG Driver

Yah, I sort of wish I had this bike as it hits nearly all of the things.
You've got an awesome bikes you'll enjoy for many miles!

Been reading your post on various threads and think Brian echoed some of your thoughts about how much power we really "need."

I mainly ride in the custom power modes I created based upon the trail situations I ride the most and intentionally rode in Boost and Turbo just to see what the M2S motor can do.

Like others have shared, the power and features of the motor are awesome and I don't see myself using riding in Boost or Turbo mode too often. My legs were toast at the end of yesterday's ride and my 60 year body was feeling it after riding 3 days in a row. It was nice having a little extra power to get me back to the car!

My current bike does absolutely nothing wrong, but I've always been a bit a Mondraker whore.
