• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Has anyone got a chip for a shimano EP6 motor
Please never, ever intend to use a "chip" (an additonal electronic hardware - box, also called "dongle" like SpeedBox, MBIQ, BadAss, RedPad, PearTune as well as Planet3 „mechanical tuning“, etc.) on an "EP6 motor" (DU-EP600) because this will definitely not work on the new generation drive units (DU-EP500, DU-EP600 and DUEP801) and will generate E295 and (after 4 times E295) finally E299 errors after riding just a few kilometres and finally will completely lock the motor support!
In this case Shimano has to unlock the drive unit and this is a highly time and money consuming process.

Also you will never get rid of the E299 again and so your bike most probably is already flagged for out of warranty for a lifetime, even if the drive unit was unlocked again by Shimano.

So, if you want to derestrict such a DU-EP500, DU-EP600 or DUEP801 based bike, then better use the purely software based and fully integrated eMax-Tuning, because this will last on the long run absolutely hassle-free and error-free. :)

The EPAspeed 1.2 B.tuning Shimano is a kick ass tuning that is compatible with the EP6 and EP800 engines.. it also offers a phone app which is brilliant
It is not possible to find any information on "EPAspeed 1.2 B.tuning" via Google!
So, please ideally give some detailed internet link if you are posting such information!
If you were thinking of the "SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning" instead, then this might work for the older DU-EP800 (but will not indicate correct values on the bike display).
However, this "SpeedBox 1.2 B.Tuning" will definitely NOT work on the long run on the new generation DU-EP600 (EP6), DU-EP500 or DU-EP801 drive units because this electronic box will manipulate the signal of the speed sensor and these manipulations will be detected on any of these newer drive units and result in E295 and (after 4 times E295) finally in the fatal E299 error!
There are tons of public forum posts about these issues with such "dongles". And "yes", these are "kick ass" devices, because they will kick you in the ass sooner or later, which is not a rumour, but fakt!
So, please never, ever use such a dongle and don´t fall into the trap if it is written "EP8 compatible", because this this is only (partially) valid for the older DUEP800, but not for the newer DU-EP801 (both are labeled "EP8" on the right hand motor cover).

This EPAspeed 1.2 B.tuning device (like all other "dongles" - electronic boxes who manipulate the signal of the speed sensor) can easily create the E295 and the final fatal E299 error which also is clearly described in their description!

Also you won´t get correct values on the bike display above 20km/h!
Also you have to connect this tool to your bike.
Also the price is quite high.

So, you will get a lot of disadvantages with this tool compared to the purely software based solution from eMax-Tuning which is less expensive and will give you correct values for speed and distance on the bike display and definitely will not create any E295 or E299 errors on the long run!

Just my 5 cents...

yes, agree with you, a flash tuning definitively is a clean alternative to a dongle, thanks for pointing this out
