Different cultures attract different fans and sometimes we just can’t wrap our heads around the fanatical interest of a specific sport.

My first experience with sports was with my father when he took me to a Montreal Canadians (The Habs) game when I was 5 years old. I don’t remember the game, but I remember the sounds, the size, and the food.

My hockey journey started when I was 4 years old. Outdoor rink behind our small house in St. Huebert Quebec. When I returned home after a game I would cry 😭 as my toes thawed. Then I’d go do it again a few days later.

Hockey and Lacrosse, year round, was my passion. I never made it to the Pro level in Hockey and only semi-pro in Lacrosse. ( Semi-pro only meant the team supplies you with equipment, travel, training, a place to stay, and maybe a job. 🙄).

Regardless, I’ll watch almost anything. But I have a favourite’s list.

Last night I watched the NBA, game 4 of the finals, NY Nicks vs SA Spurs. It was a historical game …and as a bonus, I got to see Taylor and her friends bouncing around. 😉

I’m glad I didn’t switch the game off. Crazy game.
The NFL is right up there for me also. We’ve had a Fantasy Football (NFL) league for 20+ years now. Basically the same guys for the whole time. 16 of us. I’ve only won the season 3 times, in underdog fashion sometimes.

I just can’t get into any sport that involves flops. To dramatically fake being hurt disgusts me, and goes against every cell in my body. That’s a big reason I dislike soccer and basketball in particular. However, I find pretty much any championship competition pretty compelling. Plus a former home team, the NY Knicks are competing. So I’ve been watching the NBA Finals. I have to say, that comeback by NY last night was absolutely amazing!

There’s a dispute between DirecTV and ABC so they’re not showing the NBA Finals, and Stanley Cup series. So I went over to Thompson 105 restaurant to watch. Didn’t even plan on staying to the end but it was worth it.

T105 makes killer prime rib so I ordered a prime rib French dip to go with my gin & tonics.

I see it rarely in Hockey and Football (NFL). There’s even a penalty for flopping in the NHL…and then you could be targeted by other players.

Some other sports though …wow, start the funeral arrangements. …take the gun away …call a Doctor. 🤦‍♂️.

I understand that flopping can be strategic for some sports. But that kinda turns me off.

NFL; Multiple car crashes per game.
NHL; Sacrifice your body at any cost.
MLB; Head, elbows, and tendons.

But the strategy and drama of most sports can be interesting.…especially playoff games.
