I have no idea if it's true but I'm a bit of a fanboy of Mondraker's, having had 2.

But I think it's such a tricky position to be in when your motor supplier, is also your direct competitor for bike sales. Buying from the enemy so to speak.

Interesting that on the official denial that there are no problems, are ads, on those automatic ads are massive 20percent discounts on all range of Mondraker bikes. Now we can discuss all day about what is true or not about discounting the whole line.. but you know, they need cashflow. This is a sort of Specialized level of discount. Now based on my understanding of information and the fact that the denial is that ther eare no problems, im slightly confused as why they are heavily discounting new bikes...

Thats nothing check out the sales in NZ :ROFLMAO:

Note the Dune R in USD is $5,287 compared to $7,999 in the states

isnt this because Mondraker are moving to online only in NZ or Having their own distro rather than Someone clipping the ticket on the way through?
That is direct to consumer pricing. But doesn't explain why its sooo much cheaper than the rest of the world.

That Dune RR for $5874 USD is 50% cheaper than US pricing currently. That can't all be direct to consumer variations

Those are clearance prices as the NZ importer is no longer.

Alex, you’ve posted on LinkedIn, and Instagram with your ‘Breaking News’.

Since that post you make, Mondraker have denied your rumour in the LinkedIn post. There’s also a post on Pinkbike with the same message from Mondraker.

But now your doubling down your claim as you’ve found some bikes being discounted?

Do you have any actual credible evidence? Because it’s a pretty big claim you are making. And the wording implies they are in financial distress.

The post and graphic you’ve used makes it look like asserted fact.

Those are 2025 spec models. Very common for all brands to discount previous model year bikes after the newer spec ones drop. If that's a sign a brand is in trouble then every big brand is in trouble at this time of year. It's also an online retailer who is selling them so maybe they are over stocked and need to aget rid also.

do you have problems understanding what 2025 means and how that relates to the word „new“ you used. these are 3 year old bikes by now.
hint: we are nearly at the end of model year 2026

Hey Rob,

Now looking at the story, Gon, did not deny in their piece about someone buying it. He didn't even mention that in their response, he focused on USA sales and success, which i believe is accurate. Availability in the EU is October, this portion wasnt mentioned in their response. That portion is true and Mondraker Italy confirmed to me that there is difficulty for dealers who order now, there are some bikes in a few shops, but not here where I am, (their exact words were, "everyone is having difficulty," ) as they skirted round the issue in a phone call to me, addressing general problems of supplies in the bike industry etc.

Now regarding the Pink bike adverts, if you hit refresh the products on discount cycle through each model, 20-25 Percent. At a dealer level, in their back end system i have been told by multiple dealers there is this 25 percent discount marked as well, so this holds up, including Craftys and other latest bikes. If they are discounting the entire range, even after a very short shelf life (less than one year for latest Crafty), there is either a new wave of bikes coming, or there are other business reasons for generating cash flow.

My question at the end is, maybe they are clearing out stock to make way for the new Avinox gearbox, that is rumoured to be coming out at eurobike. I have no advanced info apart from someone who said they have seen the moulds for it in Taiwan on bike frames. You could confirm this because I dont have direct dealings with Avinox like you do. This would also answer quite a few questions who or which brands are taking it and when its being launched.

Anyway without getting into too much more detail, thanks for responding. alex

Thanks Alex.

None of this supports your headline claim that you posted on Linkedin, Instagram and Youtube that Avinox are in talks to buy Mondraker. Discounted bikes, dealer availability issues or general industry supply delays are not evidence. They are normal bike industry noise unless you can back it up with something much stronger.

The concern is that your posts have been presented as "Breaking News" across media platforms, and you have used wording implying that Mondraker are in financial difficulties. Since then, Mondraker have denied it and Pinkbike have had to publish a story saying its not true.

That’s why I’m asking whether you have actual credible evidence for your acquisition claim, not just discounts, dealer comments, or rumours. I have seen the Zendit in shops. One of my riding buddies also bought one, we rode together this week.

You’re not a random social media account though. You attend launches, you know people in the industry, and you’ve built an audience online. So when you post “Breaking News” across LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube saying it appears Mondraker are in financial trouble and Avinox/DJI are buying Mondraker, people will take that seriously.

That’s the issue. The evidence you’ve listed doesn’t support the acquisition claim. Discounted bikes and dealer supply issues are not proof that a brand is being bought, or that it is in financial difficulty. It usually happens across every brand, every year.

Hey Rob,

Mondraker didnt answer all the points. Gon didnt say they weren't being bought, I can only say what i know from sources which cant be named. Read his response again... read between the lines.

Lets see ahead what happens.

"read between the lines” isn’t evidence. If you have credible sources, that’s your call. But the public evidence you’ve given so far is a very thin basis for posting “Breaking News” across multiple platforms about a brand being in financial trouble and being bought.

Claiming a company is in rough financial shape is a little different than making as bold a claim as identifying a specific buyer, especially one of the most hyped up names in the industry right now. You’re shamelessly farming around for clicks with half baked information.

We could also talk about who gets paid to do their bidding....
All brands do paid (cash or other benefits) partnerships with influncers, media, reviewers, etc. It's not only Avinox.

It would be nice if there were better rules about disclosing it but it is what it is.

First, I think nearly all bike companies are on shoe string budgets at the moment. Doesn't mean that they are going under, but everyone struggles to move inventory and isn't throwing money around like they used too.

Secondly, maybe Alex has insider knowledge and it's not just a guess? That would be a pretty bold statement to even imply if there was not some real knowledge. If Alex turns out to be wrong, it will negatively affect his credibility for certain.

Lastly, and unrelated, that Zendit is just the sexiest bicycle ever made. It looks soooo good.

It will negatively effect his credibility either way. Click baity, breaking news style journalism is not what we should be aiming for in this (or any) industry. Brands aren't gonna want to invite someone to launches who has a track record of spilling sensitive beans early.
