What are the alternatives to using fox’s own oil. When doing a lower leg service on a fox 38 grip2 fork. And any tips before I tear into it.

We use a light version of the Fox Gold oil and we get it from Blud Lubricants. For the damper- you need to use the same oil as you use for the damper Fox/Motorex 4 wt fork oil in that case.

I use Motorex Supergliss 100 or 64 for the air side depending on the temperature and time of year. Motorex 4W for the damper side.

I've heard that Motorex 4wt is the same oil, but when I compare it to the Fox branded its less red. Is it just more dye being used in the Fox branded?

Good observation! They can tint differently but they are the same exact oil, and slightly cheaper here in the USA. To the other commenters and the OP- I didn't notice he across the pond so Blud could be hard to get. I do agree with the Supergliss suggestion from Mcharza.
