I sometimes wonder if we've lost our way to. When going from 120nm to 150nm and 1000w to 1500w is so much more important that having it NOT rattle like an empty paint can...

One of the things that has impressed me the most with newer bikes is how silent they are . Coming from a Ep8
. The avinox i think also ratteled , but here the noise from the rest of the bike kind of drowned it a little .If it’s as loud ‘in real life’ as some of the videos seem to suggest then it would be unacceptable.
I have e-bikes running Bosch, Mahle, Shimano and TQ motors, and none of them ‘rattle’ but they all make some kind of mechanical sound from time to time as well as make noise when actually powering/engaged, but they are mechanical things at the end of the day.
I guess some people are more sensitive to such noise or they ride gnarlier trails than I do (entirely likely!
).Headset and suspension linkage creaks are my personal nemesis, always have to hunt them down!

I haven't managed to put many miles on my px pro yet due to a bad elbow/arm. I'm only just over 100km so far but it's pretty quiet apart from the brake pads rattling.
Mine is near enough silent when actually riding, you can invoke any free play in the gears by taping the crank arms when the bike is stationary but any gearbox will have to have some movement between gears to even work. So hearing that doesn’t mean the motor has an issue. If it’s really rattley like the M1 when riding it sounds a bit odd-maybe a high pawl rate free hub pulls on the chain with even the slightest suspension movement - dunno

The videos always exaggerate sounds like the rattles and motor whine, I once tried to make a video of my M560 motor sound and couldn’t believe how much more pronounced just my iPhone’s built in microphone made the sound of the motor, it was crazy, it made it sound way louder than it does in person.
The videos certainly might make the sound more pronounced. They also might make the sound less pronounced. Just depends on the mic used, where it is, what else it's picking up, etc
I'm not sure insulting people has value.
I guess a question is can we buy the M2S drive unit on it's own an how much is it? I didn't find much in a search. Like say for instance I bought a Velduro and I pull the short straw and it rattles like the Gen 4 Bosch on my Rail did, and that cannot be fixed under warranty; it's feasible to just buy a new drive unit and roll the dice again... The hit rate for rattles does seem pretty low, maybe that's an approach...

So, I had a rattle on my Amflow in rough sections for the last six months. Took me longer than expected to find the root cause: the frikkin’ brake pads (non finned galfers) rattling in my Shimano XT calipers. It really did not sound like a couple of tiny pads moving around. The new XTRs improved things.
I think all the variation in skill level, riding locations, sensitivity, and plain subjectivity makes online discussions about bikes and components really difficult.

Absolutely, especially when it comes to something being broken. I’ve seen plenty of cases where people are convinced they know what they’re doing or that whatever they did wrong couldn’t possibly cause their issue while they’re obviously at fault/wrong.
Not to mention biases of various types, from purchasing bias to brand allegiance to outright fanboyism
Nah, you can resolve that yourself. Plenty of info on the internet and YouTube if you're not mechanically minded. It's quite trivial, not like the internals of a newly released $1K+ motor that is sealed for warranty.

Anyway. Picked up my M2S Teewing Flux. Send it down the stairs from hell at Clovelly Beach. What an amazing shock ........ Dead silent. <shakes head> I also did the OP test with the chainring. No movement.

Not wishing to stir the hornets nest that is this thread, but...
These two statements seem at odds. I can understand the motor not being silent, but the first statement (if accurate) does suggest that the "gear play noise" specifically is "eliminated" (so presumably some motor whine etc might remain)
The real question is whether there will be warranty for it and if a warranty replacement (assuming that is what they do) will fix the issue or it will come back when ridden hard.

You are wrong, sir. I can totally hear a motor rattle over any trail debris/obstacles/surface. Ride a dirt/rooty xc style trail with your bike, if it's Gen 5 Bosch, all you hear are the tires on the ground. At least that is how it is on my 2025 Wild. It's heaven. For a moment I can pretend I am on normal bike. Even the under-load power is really, really quiet.What kind of trails are people riding when any motor rattle is intrusive/an issue?
There are many sounds associated with e-mountain biking, the whine of motors under power for one, but there are also suspension sounds, chains slapping, rocks and stones being moved, water etc, and not least the wind through your Thor like flowing hair!
It would have to be some rattle to get above that lot. I sometimes wonder if we’ve lost our way a bit.

right, I have ZERO rattle on my Wild gen 5 at 1k miles. I sold my super-rattley gen 4 Trek Rail before I got to 600 miles.
Both M1 and M2 share the same drive mechanism from the connecting rod to the sprocket. This mechanism must be reliable, as it withstands both axial and radial loads. I have a similar issue on my PX, I noticed a rasping sound at low cadence started at around 150 miles on flat ground, however under load ie going up hill you cannot hear it.
Before this it was completely silent, done 350 miles now and the rasping sound is annoying, but bearable...just.
Hopefully, unlike the one time poster, you just quoted, who has never logged in again, you actually log in again and let us know the reply from Amflow and Avinox. And the final outcome. Please.
I own a silent M1 and M2S. So I am quite invested in knowing the outcome. Thanks.

Amflow support seem to be quite responsive, already contacted them during set up.
I have not contacted them regarding the noise that developed as this is my first e-bike and I have my doubts if this is an 'issue' or if it's normal?
The bike has been great for me personally, however new noises you were not expecting are always concerning.
As for one time poster, I didnt register on the EMTB forum to reply just once to a thread and vanish.
I am genuinely interested to find out if this is an isolated issue or 'normal'
A rasping sound is not normal. Will Greenfield just did a noise comparison between the Bosch CX5 and the Avinox. He claims the Avinox is quieter.
So you should get it looked at. If you are inexperienced. It may not even be coming from the motor. It can be quite confusing finding noises coming from the bike.
