Hi All,

Riding a full fat bosch CX gen 5 bike. It’s been great but a bit on the heavy side! Got me thinking about the new lighter bikes with the TQ hpr 60 motor.

As it’s a difficult to test all motors does anyone have both and know which settings would be close on the Bosch to get a feel for what the TQ motor would be like?

I’m assuming simply reducing the 750watts to 350watts and 100NM to 60NM would be a start. But could still be way off.

Be interesting to hear what people think who own both.

Thank you

Well my current bike has a shimano e7000 which is 60/500 and I generally don’t ride full power. The power is enough. But nowadays the small weight savings isn’t enough. And good luck hanging with full power bikes. I have two friends on fazua60 motors and they can’t keep up. I just ordered a full power Bosch bike. I’d rather have options then be limited to mid power. And the Bosch gets great range.

I have both the Rail and Fuel EXE. Even though the geometry is practically the same (my choice and on purpose) , they have different power and purposes.

The Rail is the power horse and I use it for extended altitude rides and trail maintenance. The Fuel EXE is for fun’n’fast dh rides.

I like having the option of different rides for different areas or terrain. It’s 60/40 for both bikes …but I don’t actually have a favourite.

Thanks for your reply. Probably something you wouldn’t need to try as you have both, but any idea what setting on the rail would feel similar to the exe in full power mode?

Thanks

I would say that eco-mode or trail-mode on the Rail would feel the same as full power mode on the Fuel EXE. The Fuel has the benefit of being a lighter bike (TQ 50 and 360wh battery).

I use the Fuel EXE for tame trails and the flats also (or when I ride with my wife). But the Fuel EXE is definitely capable of anything else. I also have a spare set of wheels for the Fuel EXE.

I had the Gen 1 Levo SL. To get a similar feel as the middle Trail mode, I have my Shuttle AM (main mode I use- Tour) down to 40 NM mx and -5 Assist. It feels somewhat similar now. Since the Shuttle is heavier by 10 lbs, I figure a 40 NM max support feels more like the 30 my Levo SL had. The TQ has 60 but the Assist algo in unknown to me. I'd say try 60 NM and dial the Assist down to -5. That may be getting close. Then you can try 50 NM and -5 as well.

I got the bosch cx gen 5 with 800 watt battery.

I did a ride with someone with a trek slash tq60 580wat.

We climbed in tour+ he in half mode and end of the day a bit eco.

We covered 40km and 1800hm.

But he could keep up all the time. Only at the end we did 2 a 3 laps more.

But now he has a second batterys and our full power ebike doesn't do justice anymore.
