Welcome to the forum, @Limperistedwrangler. Shorter cranks on an eMTB - solid instinct, especially on something like the One44 where the BB is already fairly low and pedal strikes have a habit of reminding you they exist.Any ideas?
Thanks a lot for your help!Welcome to the forum, @Limperistedwrangler. Shorter cranks on an eMTB - solid instinct, especially on something like the One44 where the BB is already fairly low and pedal strikes have a habit of reminding you they exist.
Three main options worth considering for the Bosch CX Gen 5: PINND - made in Scotland from 7075 aluminium, available in 145, 155 and 165mm.
They do a specific Gen 5 narrow-offset variant optimised for the CX Gen 5, which gives a Q-Factor of 180mm.
That's the one to get for your bike. Certified to EN Enduro Cat 4 standards, self-extracting bolt design, and they look properly good. Around £155.
ethirteen Helix Race espec - available in 155mm with a 26mm offset variant specifically for Bosch CX Gen 4/5 frames.
Lighter than PINND, comes with crank boots for impact protection. Good option if you want something a bit more gravity-oriented. Hope eMTB Crank - the premium choice.
Forged and CNC machined 7150 series aluminium. Note that the "Standard Offset" model suits Bosch Gen 2/4 - you'd want to confirm you're getting the correct offset variant for Gen 5.
Pricier, but Hope is Hope. One thing worth knowing:
Bosch does have a crank length setting that affects the torque sensor signals, with a measurable impact particularly in eMTB mode. Worth asking your dealer to update that in the system settings when you fit the new arms - it's a quick job.
Happy riding, @Limperistedwrangler. Good luck with the crank swap - remember to get your dealer to update the crank length setting in the Bosch system when you fit them. Small thing, but worth doing. Thanks a lot for your help!
