Cracking day at Kirkhill today. The wind was brutal on the road ride from the train station to the forest but there was good shelter from the trees once there. Trails have held up reasonably well after the recent storm too, just a few puddles on the exposed sections.
Just over 20 miles and 2782ft of climbing.

There is actually a trail that does go over a dyke. I'll try and remember to get a photo next time. The rock slab is just a good place to stop and chill for a bit as its flat and wide at the top, so always get a photo there.
It's over 30 years since I rode Kirkhill. It was my local riding area...

I first started riding there in the 90s too. Some of the same trails are still there. It's mostly the trees have come and a gone.

South Downs near Lavant West Sussex today. If you look carefully you can see the sheep which were previously in 4 fields are now herded together ready for lambing.

There's a decent strand of riders who never go near a bike other than to ride it. I serviced my mate's Zeb on Saturday. He had it on one click of rebound, when I mentioned it he said it rode like a pogo stick but he had assumed that's how they all worked. I'm never quite sure whether curiosity is a blessing or a curse.
Did you swap them over so that he could take a similar amount of metal off the other side of the disc ?

18c was forecast for today ..somebody should have told that to the hoolie that was blowing at the top of Bolts Law this morning ..I was so glad I took a Jacket .

Sublime singletrack along the Carriers Way ..
It came with some bad news though as the Byway over Blanchland Moor to the gate at the edge of Slaley Forest has been " improved " ..totally spoiling the semi technical nature of the track ..
Why cant they just leave things alone ( * Errr possibly so that the owners can get their 4×4's up there a bit quicker in the grouse shooting season Neil ..

Up to the first gate from Pennypie House..
The Middle section is ok for now ...
...The fantastic techy drop down to the forest is motorway now ...grrrrr
19.8 miles with 2064ft ascent / descent in total ..on a Billy no mates ride

Another great Spring day today, stayed local around the Amber Valley area, everywhere looked so vibrant after the greyness of the last few months and the leaves aren't fully out yet, still lots of blossom about. Even warmer tomorrow and I'm off work until next week
