Aye, when browsing on my phone I've had a few questionable ads appear when I've been sat next to my other half!

I have targeted ads turned off on my Google/Chrome account, but the ad server obviously knows it's audience on here :D

That's what I thought. If you're seeing dodgy ads it's more because of your own online behaviors than the forum.

I don’t think that’s necessarily the case, the dodgy subject matter sells, or at least people think it does.

An ad I was seeing this morning was asking me to verify my account, then linking to a remove Ads page where it was suggesting a £5.99 fee to remove them, and in the small print saying a monthly £40.99 service charge would apply.

It’s just ad bots and scammers all over the place at the moment.

Not on here anymore thankfully. 👍

I think if you've got target ads turned off on whatever device you're using it will just serve you any old shite.

You wouldn't believe how many ads I get served for bearing extractors.

To be honest, the amount of advertising on this page has increased drastically lately. I’m now seeing ads in the middle of threads, and not just one — sometimes several in a row. On the main page, pop-ups are appearing that are difficult to close. (Mostly Mobile User)

I understand that running the platform and paying administrators costs money, and I’m willing to accept a reasonable amount of advertising. However, the current level feels excessive. If this trend continues, I will definitely visit this place way less often.

I would be quite unhappy to see the situation continue in this direction.

Thats not right at all (that huge ad) sorry about that.

I'll get these sorted asap.

Hi @Rob Rides EMTB ,

I have a paid subscription, but started seeing ads yesterday. They seem to have disappeared today. Thanks for resolving. (y)

Also, I noticed my alert bell now goes green instead of red. The red caught your attention better, especially with the green in your Logo, but it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks for your efforts.

It's a real shame if the massively increased number of ads over the last couple of days is intentional. Trying to use the site via my phone last night was horrendous and eventually I just gave up.

Same here, OK on my PC with Firefox which has some strong additional spam/popup protection.
I also noticed that something else has changed recently, I think. If I am not logged in to the forum it seems I can only view some of the posts in a thread the rest are blurred out or incomplete until I log in. That is a real nuisance, I don't always want to login, particularly on my mobile and if I were a new user it would not encourage me to sign up, the reverse in fact!

It should be fixed now? Can you show me anywhere that its showing a ton of ads?

I've not had any on any platform. I feel like I've been unfairly targeted and I'm missing out.

Especially when it comes to finding Eastern Honey's with a Ride Wrap. I mean, what is an Eastern Honey with a Ride Wrap ? It sounds great, but I might have to ask Greg for more information and some images.

Rob, that looks much better now from the mobile. Thank you. Last night they were all over the main page, some had pull down/up arrows and even after pressing twice to minimise as much as possible they still got in the way of pressing on the forum logo to go back to the home page.

Yeah that was really bad.

Hopefully the balance is much better now. Ads help pay for the site, software, server, licenses, updates etc. So they are essential to the running of the place. But shouldn't totally ruin the user experience!
