Bafang M510 RS - discussion, tuning, firmwares

Does than new speed disc speed sensor send the same signal on the same pins as the old magnet sensor? I mean can I safely connect the old CANBUS Bafang motor to this sensor? Can it damage something on the motor controller, or can it be damaged by old Bafang motor, or it will just read wrong speed and nothing really bad will happen?

TQ, hard to tell now. There is a small box in front of new speed sensor. I guess it is a convertor to CAN bus? Or there can be also just normal signal with 42 signals per revolution.
Hard to tell now, but will let you know soon. Should get one M560RS. I have break my word and will become again beta tester. :))

Old firmware with new speed disc wont be able to use, it will show you very high speed. Already saw it. And have M560 firmware for 42t speed disc.

Nice. So it is here that down hill holding.
It is quite simple to implement, just to run some constant non rotating current through the winding once you detect wheel is rotating backwards.

Is for a discussion if we need it. For me useless function.

There is M510 FC4.0 motor available, I have ordered cef69 with it. On the left there is RS motor which also looks like is FC4.0.
Just wondering what would be the hardware differences in between them.
M510RS uses multi point speed sensor. It looks like this sensor might be able to detect direction of rotation (there is some small box attached to it).
So in therms of hardware two motors might be very similar.

Hello mate. HW will be with hight probability the same. Also 560RS is the same (different torque sensor).

On the right I see better torque sensor 3.4
And you right there can be same versions of controller in both 4.0. Guess will be this controller, just they messing it with the labels

With that new speed disc and small box it is really starnge. When I was measuring it, it has output just on SPD1 pin signal. If you want to detect rotation you need 2 SPD pins. And this is how older sensors works (motor just ignoring SPD2 as no needed to detect backwards rotation). So looks like that funny box is spoiling it. First I thought it is converting speed sensor signal to CAN bus. But is not. Or voltage ramp up?
Was not measuring signal from sensor (after the box) as dont have that new small connector.

But there is a video with M510RS, where is working "hill holding" function. So means it must be detecting backwards rotation. Not sure if that box is included here.

In the new/disc sensor there are 2 sensors inside with phase shift so box must translating somehow two readings into one send only to spd1 pin. If you can scope spd1 pin forward and backward than it will be clear. Easiest way to translate 2 readings into one pin would be some kind of modulation, different forward/backward.

I did, only SPD1 has a signal and no modulation. It is just hole and no hole = 0/1

The new VESC for Bafang M560 and M560RS controller is completely functional!

Hi guys looking for advice as I can't find much details of spec online. I've recently ordered a new cef69 frame with the m510 motor and I'm gutted I didn't wait a little longer as they now sell this frameset with the m510rs. It seems the m510rs would bolt right in place of the m510 motor on that frame but would the new speed sensor for the m510rs also bolt straight on the cef69 frame that was originally equipped with the m510.

As I would like to upgrade the motor to the new m510rs

I guess there will be also firmware for RS for single magnet. We will see. ;)

Any updated ride feedback on the new RS version? Do the updated features bring it more in-line with a Bosch Gen 5 or Avinox?

I build my own frames and this is one of the few motors that are easy to purchase as a stand alone motor, looking at options for a build.

Also from reading I think these can be run with any battery and don't specifically need the Banfang CANBUS battery to be used. Is this correct?

Do not be awaiting it will reach gen5 or DJI. ;) Still not on a webpage.

Thats correct, takes also batteries without can bus.

I don't understand the not on a webpage comment? Something lost in translation there.

It is still beta version. I would wait a while for real production. First version of motors was still with bugs. :(

i add received one. HMI is an DPC030 -01, it seem able to diplaying human power (and also motor power) and heart rate. the remote switch is different than previous. It have 4 mode eco, tour, sport, sport+ (automatic mode ?) and boost. same crankarms assembly and wiring connections than M510.

i have checked in BEEST pro and i don't seen differncies on avaible setting than M510 rev2 ? just used the walk mode and it's seem lack of grease, i will check later. I can't test it for the moment (i'm injured) and i need to adapt the multipoint speed sensor

wait for your review.......... how is assist power delivery, sound when climbing and downhill. That's the main thing.

Could you let me know where it’s possible to buy the multi point speed sensor from? Thank you.

I don't know, you can ask to the saler of the motor: tars wong from Changzhou Fieldebikes Co., Ltd. on alibaba. but i doubt that spare parts are allready available. They haven't done an users book for the moment to help of assembly

Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to buy the M510RS. Is there anyone here who can share their thoughts on its performance and overall ride feel? Also, for those who had this motor for testing—have you received any firmware updates yet?

Does anyone know where to buy a 510 direct mount chainring narrow wide like Raceface do

BOSCH G4 e-MTB Chainring - SHI 12

Hello everyone. I ordered the m510rs engine. The engine has already been supplied to many people. I don't see any reviews of this engine. It's alarming.

Guys, share your feelings about the engine.

Hello. You mean single piece?

It is all with spiders.

I have draw one and have produced. But too expensive - that splines on inside.

Yes that’s what I was after, I haven’t checked if Bafang is the same spline as Bosch yet.
Well done there could be a market for those, like the Lekkie bling ring

I was just informed that the M510RS was only temporarily available. That the official official release will be Q3 this year. Which is a bummer.

That’ll make it a full year since they showed the first pics of last year. What a mess that company is.

Really I wonder why, maybe it’s a market decision
I have been ready to buy one as soon as I Dado had done a review.
I have made a few inquiries but both my sources have said they would get back to me haven’t

It's a big bummer. Even the new speed sensor is out of stock apparently.

I was hoping to put it in my new LCE971 build, but I'll just go with a standard M510 for now.

Think about a custom 52v battery and you have a similar power output, works well without all the hassle of the new speed sensor

installed.

The throttle don't functioning (alike the M820)
the walk mode going forward at 5 KM/h, regardless of the position on the rear gear.
i need to build an bracket for the speed sensor and i could able to test it outside
