Hi,
Performance on my Ipad is slowing down again, looks like similar problem as last autumn. Anybody else having issues?

All good here on mobile and desktop (both Chrome).

Maybe try cleaning your browser cache?

Hi all, forum performance has been a bit slow recently, server was getting hammered by bot requests. Hopefully now I've resolved it.

Rob
I am still finding it very difficult to load pages or post things. When posts open often the photos do not load.
When I try to post something I have to try it a number of times before it goes up.

This is the exact same issue I’m having. I’m on try #5 just to reply to your post😂🤣

Are you on BT Internet?

Yeah, I’m thinking it’s a BT issue for me. If I turn off my WiFi and use 4/5G it works a lot better.

Edit: it seems like this site is the only one I’m having issues with, every other site loads fine on my WiFi.

Same here. Slow to load, pictures missing, won’t load etc.
I’m on BT at home, well it’s ee now.
I nearly returned to STW out of frustration but their site is absolutely shocking and I was a member for over 20 years 😔

We are updating the site over the next few days/week to the latest forum software. Also noticed a few things on Cloudflare site that might be slowing things down, as site is blazing fast when we bypass cloudflare.

Thanks @MattWServices for working on this upgrade.

Interesting, i own and run a motorbike forum, we had issues with the Bots as it's PHP based around the same time as you and everyone else using PHP forums, but we resolved that with Cloudflare too and since blocking all of the locations like China, Indonesia, Taiwan, etc etc ours has been golden.
But i appreciate for you to block the far east countries would be complicated and not a great solution.

FWIW I had a Cloudflare outage yesterday on desktop & mobile, around 4pm for about 30 minutes on Vodafone here.

Yup, Nicho's on BT too. Something weird on their routing.
Interestingly I have also started getting a lot of spam/phishing emails every day for the last 2 weeks.
For years I have been having some issues with BT regularly diverting genuine emails into my spam folder. Some days I might get 6 or 7 emails from my MRT, all sent from the same address, and some of them get through to my inbox and others to the spam folder.
Over the last 2 weeks 8 or 9 genuine ones I have diverted to my inbox from the spam folder keep reappearing in the spam folder day after day.
Problems with BT email routing has been a well known issue with BT for a few years.
I have not had any issues with websites though, except for this one!

STOP PRESS:
Everything on the site seems to be loading really quickly today; back to normal!
(no changes have been made on my computer to cause it).

Just for reference, been using BT internet (domestic) connection on and off for a few days and forum performance varys constantly.

Works normally on 4g 5g or any other WiFi internet connection.

So on a bot related note anyone notice the uptick in seemingly bot accounts (not Greg) creating and replying in threads on this forum? There really seems to have been an uptick lately in the amount of instances I am seeing of this. Dead internet theory seems to be playing out.

Historically every new member was vetted manually before being approved.

Recently we have a more automated system for faster approvals, the downside is that more bot's/spam can get through.

The system's still evolving and improving, but for now, if you see something suspicious, just click "report" and we'll investigate it and remove them - which searching and finding all their twins and removing them too.
