I'm at the point where I'd really like a range extender - my battery dies after about 25 miles of decent adventuring with climbs, and I'd like to do a bit more.

Cube say the powermore isn't compatible with the action team version of the hybrid stereo 140 (2023) which is what I have.

I managed to find a french guy on youtube who runs one, says there is only 2-3mm between the extender and the air canister on the rear shock - which is probably why Cube say it's not compatible

Long shot but does anyone here run one?

Please be aware it may not be just an issue with the PowerMore hardware. I don't wish to be negative but given your bike is from 2023 the chances are it is not "PowerMore Ready" and as such the range extender won't work. The fix would be to get "someone" with access to the Bosch Diagnostic program to request a configuration change to Cube via Bosch but since Cube have already decided your bike is not compatible I doubt if they would be willing to provide a configuration for it with the PowerMore activated.

It 100% is compatible - it has the powermore compatible charge port, and shows powermore ready in the flow app :)

If its anything like my Trek Rail and the later MY23 Rail its not a case of if the powermore fits, the bottle cage mounts are not strong enough for a 1.6kg weight being bumped around on the frame.

Later model Rails and many other manufacturers like Cube strengthend the frame around the mounts/made longer threads for use of the Powermore.

I would tread very carefully, if the bottle mounts crack its new frame time. My bike is also powermore ready in the flowapp but I would rather side with safety seeing as Trek said its not compatible.

That's very promising but it might still be worth it to test it out before committing to buying the PowerMore, maybe look to borrow one from a mate or speak to your LBS.

My understanding is that cube say it’s compatible with the lower model 140’s but not the action team due to the extra air canister on the rear shock

So I assumed the frame was ok for the weight

Great point though, I’ll see if I can contact Cube and find out if it’s just shock clearance they are worried about or the frame strength

Yea, I know in a lot of MY22 and MY23 (before the powermore was an option) that frame designs were not built for the powermore. Once Bosch released it then MY24 and onwards were compatible. Be interesting to see what Cube say because you could easily change to a different shock from stock and it shouldn't be an issue if its not frame dependent.

I don't even know what year mine is classed as - bought December 2023 but I think that's the 2024 model

I've been running the power more range extender on my 2023 cube 140tm with the same shock fitted as yours just not the factory option. Have had no problems so far and was fitted by the shop who checked clearance with the shock fully deflated. Range extender was fitted appropriately a year ago.

Legend

I’m going out riding tomorrow with a friend who has one on his Orbea Wild so going to see if I can try it. But that’s awesome news

Do you have any pics?

What an absolute legend
Thank you so much!

Yeah looks very tight but that's you and a guy on youtube running them without issues
Time to pull the trigger :)

I only managed to trial fit it after the ride - and as per Ivan's pictures it fits.... but with like 3mm of clearance between the shock

I'm not concerned about the frame, at the end of the day there is a metal plate bolted to that part of the frame and a 725wh battery under it, so I'm sure it's strong enough - but the clearance is... "very close" lol

I'm on the fence. I'd love to do some longer rides especially in the summer but I'm not sure if the clearance is enough for me not to panic.

I mean I'd only use it on long XC days, it'd come off before I go jumping around but still it's a bit "squeeky bum"

I have a 2023 cube stereo hybrd, and my powermore works just fine

I have the same bike, it's great news the the PowerPoint fits (just).
Can I ask what length cable you you bought?
The cable to the connectors is 250mm. To extreme end of the connectors is 330mm.

I'll try and attach a photo

Phil can you send the link of the French guy on YouTube running the PowerMore on the CUBE stereo Hybrid?

I’m not so lucky it looks like my bike might be a 2022-2023 (bought April/24 from retailer who probably ordered Oct/23 and got stuck with the bike).

My bike does not have the PowerMore charge connector port but that’s a simple $20 fix, more importantly the Bosh Flow app says PowerMore Ready “No”.

How does one formally request a bike config file with PowerMore Ready “Yes”, does that request have to come from a CUBE dealer or from myself directly?

For anyone worried about range extender clearance using standard bottle cage holes on the frame Wolftooth make rails that allow you to shift a bottle cages (or range extenders) up or down.

Yeah mate - I'd be careful if yours doesn't have the option in the bosch app - I've read a lot of people saying even if you swap the cable Bosch won't enable it in the software unless your bike manufacturer allows it

I wonder if CUBE will allow if it the dealer switches out the shock to a coil, or if they will claim the frame isn’t strong enough for the added weight.

That looks interesting
Trouble is I think as per the pictures above and the video if you slide the powermore up the frame it gets very close to the top bar - adding height with an adaptor plate would worsen that
It's just a very close fitment on this bike!

I haven't bought one yet, as much as I want to try it, £400 seems like a lot to spend and then find it doesn't work. I'm going to see if I can borrow one from a friend for a few rides before I commit

From what I've heard they say it's compatible with the lower model 140 - just not the action team and HPC is it? the ones that use the float X rear shock - so to me that says the frame is fine, the clearance for the shock isn't enough for them to be happy

That also explains why it's unlocked in the software and says "powermore ready"

It can only be done by a dealer, though as I understand it does not have to be a Cube dealer. The dealer needs to connect your bike to their Bosch Diagnostic program then select an option to raise a request for a new configuration via Bosch to the bike's manufacturer which, if they approve, will be sent or can be downloaded (not sure which, never got that far) and must be installed by the dealer. Apparently it can take several days before the new configuration is available. You will need to find a dealer with a good knowledge of the Bosch software and who is interested in doing the job, I have been looking for one for nearly a year now but no luck yet, plenty of did you buy the bike here, no idea and even "What's a PowerMore? Good luck if you go that way, I'm beginning to despair:cry:
