I must say that I like the sound of the Shimano EP10. I've had two Shimano motors since Jan'19 and they have been flawless, along with a natural delivery of power and torque that makes me feel like me on a good day, a really good day! But it depends upon what bike it would come on!
You want an Avinox for thatretrofitable / backwards compatable would be great
but I know that'd never happen![]()
A lot of manufactures these days prefer to do their own thing for product launches, I wouldn't take not seeing anything at Eurobike 2025 to mean we won't see anything from Shimano in 2026. At this point I don't think Shimano can leave it much later than 2026 to offer something new otherwise they will lose what little emtb business they have left to Bosch or others. Are there any links to any rumors related to "Shimano EP10"?
Shimano did not announce any new drive unit on the Eurobike 2025 exhibition in Frankfurt and normally all new products from Shimano will be introduced on this exhibition which mostly will be held in June (like e.g. the new electronic Di2 derailleurs which were introduced this year).
I absolutely agree - Shimano definitely should announce some news regarding their drive units soon, otherwise DIJ and Bosch are having huge advantages.A lot of manufactures these days prefer to do their own thing for product launches, I wouldn't take not seeing anything at Eurobike 2025 to mean we won't see anything from Shimano in 2026. Too bad TQ couldn't just make a super compact version of their TQ 120 motor....lolOpening a thread for 2026 motor rumors and info, anyone in the know please share
Rumors I heard :
Shimano ep10 100nm
Full power TQ 90+nm
New full power Sram ?nm
Porsche ?
...
It's coming (from rumorsToo bad TQ couldn't just make a super compact version of their TQ 120 motor....lol
That thing was a monster.
Will it arrive on an Orbea? I’ve only heard rumors about an Orbea equipped with a TQ system, and earlier I was assuming it would come with the HPR60 motor...When you look at the class leading power delivery, efficiency and integration of the HP60 it's hard not to be excited about a new full power TQ.
I think it's unlikely it would maintain the same form factor as the HPR 50/60. It would likely be beefier and heavier although hopefully still somewhat compact compared to the other options.Well you can retrofit (*just, power limits) the hpr60 into original hpr50 bikes (well trek exe), I was probably going to sell my exe (want a bit more power and have gone Bosch sx) but backwards compatible hpr80/90 (even with certain restrictions), ooohhhh that would make an interesting option.
Where did he get an EPX motor casing? Or is it fake? I tried watching his video. I'm fairly patient listening to translations but if that is the best that Google Translate can do, it was pretty bad. Better than nothing of course. But I couldn't help thinking while I was watching that it was a bit like the spoof videos made of things like "Hitler's Day out to Morecambe", where totally made up dialogue is fitted to a real film clip.
Pic is AI or photoshop. I would also doubt he has any credible info on Shimano's new offering or future plans.Where did he get an EPX motor casing? Or is it fake? I tried watching his video. I also had a deeper look too at this video and especially the casing of the "EPX" which is 100% identical to the current DU-EP801, but the integrated CNC - milled or even molded "EPX" signature seems not to be AI fake, but real. So I assume this is a real new casing from Shimano, however maybe just a prototype or even just a mock up. The guy who has done the video seems to be quite professional and may have some direct connections to Shimano.Where did he get an EPX motor casing? Or is it fake? I tried watching his video. Why exactly do you think so?Pic is AI or photoshop.
For me this seems to be too good for a fake...
I am doing professional software development on a daily basis since many decades and think I know quite well what AI (Grok, Nano Banana, etc.) currently is able to do and what not. But let´s see, I am also happy to be proven wrong.Welcome to 2025 and AI generated content
You can easily feed an image of a EP801 into any number of AI programs and give it a few prompts and get the above image.
I am happy to be proven wrong, I just don't think some random guy from YT is gonna be the one to break the news on Shimano's next offering.
Thanks a lot and fair enough - the picture you have shown is quite different from the viewing angle of the one with the "EPX" in the video, but maybe you are correct and there was another older picture taken as basis for a "fake" new EPX - picture. So this image was posted in an article from this site years ago. Almost certain this one or another from this shoot was used as the base for the EPX image.

We rode the new Shimano EP6 and EP8 (801) ebike motors
We’ve had a couple of encounters with the new EP8 motor already. We rode it on a Yeti, and it was so quiet. Despite riding on frozen and noisy surfaces, we were quite confident this motor was silent. Watch the video of our ride on the new...www.emtbforums.com
Given the serviceability of the current Shimano product, would anyone seriously consider one again?
How many riders really get motor services? I'd wager most people are happy with a 2 year warranty and getting replacements in that period. Sure it would be nicer if they were easily serviceable but a lot of people just buy new bikes every two years anyway once the warranty is done.Given the serviceability of the current Shimano product, would anyone seriously consider one again?
Me for one, third EP8 with no issues (touch wood!)Given the serviceability of the current Shimano product, would anyone seriously consider one again?
