Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

dafuq? why would you shop in a store where they never heard of customer service!? all our bikes are charged to 100% on pickup day…
I’m sure they will, ‘beg’ was a poor choice of words. He’s picking up from a very small shop and they’re getting 11 bikes ready to go out the door. I chose to build mine myself (hence the 2% battery - it was straight from the factory) rather than wait a couple of days for the shop to build it up.

Haha I trust Jonno to sort things perfectly. He is a Wizz although I dare say his main priority would be to get his own bike sorted asap. Legends enduro race next weekend in Vegas. He will need as much time on his new bike as he can spare if he wants to have a chance at winning. I will hassle him later today

Never used mavens before apart from carpark riding on well sorted brakes which felt great. They have told me it takes two or 3 bleeds to get them solid and after that they work great so we will see. I will give the stock tyres a go before I change back to my regular wheelst

no, they are shit. way too much force needed on the finger. it was really bad when i tried the forbidden and the velduro. when you have invested in intend brakes, you can't go back to shit brakes.

I am pretty happy with my current mt7s. When you have them sorted they are pretty bloody good. I will give the Mavens a good test and if they don't come up to spec then I am contemplating some lewis

I love mine, I’ve put them on all my bikes. Great power and modulation. Maybe do some finger exercises or something? That’s not an issue for me or anyone I know with them.

Yeah on the carpark rides they feel fine so I'm pretty keen to give them a decent shot. I am actually expecting to quite like them. Power consistency and modulation without any fading. That's all I am looking for🤣

Edit: it came with 2% battery and the standard charger is slow, so if you want a chance of riding on day 1, beg the shop to charge it!
Fingers crossed for you. Good news is that Bruce shipped 11 bikes to Pablo's yesterday, so there's a chance! I've checked on the software and it's not saying an update is necessary. SIM card is not required (I didn't even know it was a thing till I borrowed the Amflow...). The bike did feel tall in the front (as expected), but then I realised it came with four spacers under the stem :ROFLMAO:. Felt more 'normal' after that. It is heavy, but less than I was expecting -very similar to the Amflow I rode the other week which I think on paper is at least 2kg lighter. My previous bike was a V1 Druid, so it's not too foreign. Things I noted straight away (putting aside ridiculous Avinox power):
  • S3 feels fine, although obviously need to get on some single track to test properly. I'm 176cm and was worried it was too big. My old Druid Large is more aligned with the S2... There's probably some motivated reasoning there, cause I ain't got an option to change!
  • The GX Electronic Transmission is awesome - quite loud on changes, but so defined and reliable. I had an XTR on my old Druid and never fully gelled with it.
  • I can have the seatpost slammed and the 210mm travel is absolutely perfect. I was worried I'd be too short for the travel. Man, the seat sits so low compared to my old Druid!
  • No surprise, but it definitely feels a lot less 'trail bike' compared to my 130/150 Druid.
  • I've never ridden a DH bike, so with the seat fully down, the high front end feels crazy, but get into attack mode and I feel I have so much room
  • The Select+ suspension feels plush. Looking forward to tinkering with it on a trail. Might even break out my old shockwiz - an ebike will rule for running the same bit of trail multiple times for set up!
I hope yours arrives. It's gonna rip in Vegas! Can't remember if I mentioned in this Forum, but I rode the Amflow up the main shuttle route the other weekend - shuttle pick up to Billy T - it took 9 min! It did use nearly 20% of the battery... On the flip side, I went up Apumoana in Eco at a 'normal' speed and it used 6%.

One more photo of her in final form - ride wrap on (I give myself 4/10 for the job... but it's on and protected :ROFLMAO:), Conti Tyres, Carbon Oneup bar, bottle cage and oneup pump/EDC -otherwise stock CorE T2, S3.

As I expected, there's much more room than stated for the dropper post.
I'm waiting to see if the size S2 can also fully accommodate a 210.

Mine is a Core S2 too, I would love to read about that. Please post when you try it. Thank you

It is strange finally having one in the flesh when I’ve been staring at pictures of them like a 10yo with a Lamborghini poster for 4 months!
I'm Still staring and will be for while longer

Got a quick test run down mini DH in Rotorua. Bike only had 9% charge so motor couldn't perform but it felt pretty good but will need a bit of dialing in to feel comfortable. Hopefully I can get out again tomorrow

People, you the Fortunate and Happy Folks that already have they bikes please feel the pain of those who don’t. Send picture of your bikes (if you already did, send more), initial sensations with the bike, etc.
Feed us.
Thanks

So my lbs just posted on faceplant that the core is landing late Octoberish... and they have two bikes still available. Note...no communication with me... just stumbled across this...

Will be interested to see when I actually get my hands on it!

Stoked for you! I hope you get some proper saddle today. Can’t wait to have mine in Vegas, too.

What size is that? Looks like a tight fit for the one up pump and waterbottle which was going to be my setup
S3. I thought there would be tons of room, but surprisingly tight. There’s 3 bolt bottle cage mount on the down tube,, but the piggyback on the vivid prevents it being in the lowest set up. Well it did for my cage & bottle.

It works fine though. No issue getting stuff in and out.

Which shop?

The closest Forbidden dealer to me has one S3 left, thinking it might’ve be too small, I’d love to know if there’s an S4 available.

How tall are you? I was told to go with the S3 and I'm 6'2

I’m also 6’2”/188cm. Have you sat on the bike? 467mm is a far smaller reach than anything I’ve ridden before. Unfortunately can’t check out the sizing before putting a deposit if I wanted it! Very keen to know how you came to that sizing choice and what kind of riding you do, it’d be a huge help.

Not yet, I'll have mine in hopefully 2 weeks.... I can report back after that 😅

I was 6' 2" and on a large Santa Cruz nomad. My LBS was adamant that I'd be a S4. I'm closer to 6'1" these days with long arms. We ahmed and ahhed around the S3 and after the Loam Wolf review where he reckons he's 6'1" and the S3 was fine I switched to the smaller one. As he stated, you can make a smaller size feel bigger but it's tough making a larger size feel smaller. I hate being between sizes.
Out of interest, all of you that now have your bikes, how tall are you and what size do you have?
First impressions regarding your sizing?
