Hello! Looking at changing out the stock crankset on my Giant Reign e+. The stock Praxis EC-1's are still functional, but having snapped a pair of Praxis cadet cranks in the past I am looking to upgrade sooner than later as I could see this happening with these. A bit baffling that Giant didn't spec the HD version of this crankset, honestly. Praxis was good to me in the past with a warranty replacement and I've considered just upgrading to their HD version, but it's quite heavy and there are other options available....

I'm interested in the E*Thirteen offerings but have not found any rider reviews on the Helix Core model, and only one review on the Helix Race which are a pretty premium price, putting them up against Hope or PINND. Both appear to be perfectly compatible with the Sync Drive motor. Anyone have experience with these?

I have the 155 e13 helix race espec alloy crank arms that I'm using for my Crestline buildout. Happy to answer any questions that don't involve using them yet. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I am currently using the Helix Core e*spec Alloy Crank that came with my bike. They are just fine but something I really like is the little disk rubber that came with the crank arm.

Looks like nothing but it protect a lot my motor - both version have it.

Depending on how hard you ride or not you will not see any difference with the race but they might look better for some and 50g lighter - careful about offset so as there are 2 different ones on the race.

I guess if you crack your stock one, you could go with the race or just spare money buy the core and see it you break them.

The only reason I would honestly change them would be the size, got 160mm and I would like to have 150/155. But 5mm is
just not worth spending money to me right now.

Thank you for your replies.

I've bent two Sram X0 crank arms recently from pedal strikes so I'm hoping to find something a bit stronger.

How are yours holding up?

Do you think it's worth paying extra for the E13 Helix Race?

I have got some kashima, is the crank colour a close match?
Thank you.

Thank you.
I was thinking silver to better hide the damage and scuff marks.

Since I bent 2 sets of Helix Core cranks ethirteen gave me a significant discount for the Helix R cranks. They look pretty nice, the a bit are lighter then the Helix Core cranks and they were flawless since.

However, they are cranks...what should I say besides weight and look :)

Edit: They come with an OEM protection wrap and some crank boots.

Thank you to everyone for your replies.
I've ordered them direct from E*Thirteen UK in Silver - 155mm.

The cranks arrived today.

Free next day shipping from e*thirteen UK, great service.

They look really nice and definitely feel lighter than the SRAM X0 they're replacing but they are 5mm shorter, I'm hoping they don't bend as easily.

They did come with boots and protection tape.

Looks great might buy them in few weeks to go along my al raw pedal!

Absolutely. They have a similar profile to the Hope and Pinnd cranks they just have less machining in the underside. Look great in gold if you have any kashima!
Hello,
please, question - I also want to replace stock cranks on my Amflow PL Carbon Pro to these e13 Helix, there are 2 offsets, 21,5mm and 26,5mm, is it right to order 21,5mm, I hope? I think that original ones are about 22mm, so 21,5 must fit...?
Many thanks for your reply..

Hi. See above I have these on my Amflow. I'm actually looking to sell the gold ones as I've changed these now (no issues with them I just like changing parts!) not sure where you're based but I can stick them on ebay if you're interested.
Hi, thanks for your offer, but I already ordered ones and have them on the way...

Hi S1mmo, how are you getting on with this crank? I'm getting one, and would like to know if I need special tool to install and remove this? Or 8mm hex and torque wrench is enough? Hope to hear from you?.

Hello MJO

The cranks have been really good so far. They've taken a few hits but are both still straight and look almost new.

You don't need any special tools, just an 8mm hex to install and remove as they're self extracting.

You probably don't need a torque wrench you can just get them nice and tight but I already had one so I torque them to 50nm.

Thanks, I'll be replacing my stock crank with this. Here's my current crank. Never owned ebike before, so everything is new to me and don't want to break anything especially in the motor area.

Is this a self extracting crank also?and need 8mm hex to remove? Also E thirteen, but the cheaper version.

I'm fairly certain that those are self extracting but you know for certain when you turn the 8mm hex a good few turns anticlockwise.

If the crank comes off, all good.

If the centre bolt comes out and the crank stays attached you'll need a crank extraction tool like this.

Nice, thanks for the thorough explanation. E thirteen just comes with everything from the box. Dust/gap cap, crank arm protector. Which makes installation straight forward.

It came, Mate. Looks great and comes with everything. Dust gap cover, crank boots, wrap decals and some E thirteen stickers.
