Cracked a rim and ordered new rear wheel. It has come today but I’ve been sent HG instead of XD I ordered. Going to Wales on Friday so no time to exchange. I want to take my XD freehub body from my old wheel and put it on new one. I cannot work out how to remove the freehub body. Anyone got any experience with these wheels?

both should be just a matter of removing the end cap and pulling the HG or XD freehub off. Usually the easiest way to remove the end cap is to grip it in soft jaws of a vice and applying a little upward pressure on one side of the wheel, give the other side a tap upwards with your hand.

Hello, sorry for using this old thread, I'm in a similar situation, I cannot open to service the freewheel body of my E-deemax 2024, I managed to remove the end cap just pulling the freehub, but I cannot extract the freehub itself, it moves just about 10mm from it's position but after it seems locked.

I assume you have removed the cassette complete with freehub and end cap...then removed the end cap?

Yes as above, the 40nm end cap holds the freehub body to the cassette

I pulled with cassette installed as I'm used with Dtswiss hub on my second wheelset, freehub came out for about 10mm so that end cap came out but cannot extract freehub at all, it seems locked.
Maybe I only have to apply more force...

If the freehub is the hg splined type one common problem is those splines getting somewhat chewed by the cassette. That may be why the freehub is stuck in the cassette. Suggest you put the end cap back on and try tapping that with a rubber mallet or hammer with a piece of wood if you do not have one.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding, I cannot pull off the freehub (microspline) from the hub body, not the cassette from the freehub.
it get stuck halfway.

Yes I am confused! Your photo was the cassette. So to clear things up start from the beginning! First step is to remove the cassette nut using a shimano lock nut tool and chain whip. The cassette should the be able o be removed from the bike....leaving the freehub still on the axle held in place by the end cap. If you then remove the end cap the microspline freehub should slide off the axle. So what is stuck to what???

Another thing you can try......put the lock nut back on....but just finger tight not torqued up. Then get your fingers behind the big cog of the cassette and lever side to side

The microspline freehub on the hub axle, It slides halfway until it get stuck as in attached picture.
I tried after removing cassette as well but none.
Maybe I only have to pull firmer, I'm used with Dtswiss hubs where freehub pops out easily.

It's been a while since I took a microspline to bits, but I seem to remember that the centre tube holds it in place and has to come out by undoing the brake side 🤔
Then again I could be talking crap as usual 🤣

Yes there is one type like that but not I think in this case especially if it is a 12 speed cassette

All mine are dt swiss ratchet..and yes dead simple! With yours I think you just need to use more using the cassette as a lever as I described above.......especially if the freehub has not been taken off in recent times.

It's my new Mondraker Crafty's wheelset, I wanted to make my first freehub service, so it's first time I attempt to open rear hub.
I'll try as you suggested, thank you again.

XD hub outer nut is left hand thread.
That has to come off too alow the freehub body to come off.

Edit.
Ignore that as it was a Shimano hub. And I should not try to help when drunk 🍻

Hello, update my issue with my freehub, I tried to pull in any ways but it won't come out more than this.
Next step is trying to hit the inner axle with a hammer and a piece of wood, holding the freehub with the cassette installed. 😓
