With in a few days Specialised Pro Levo at $10 300 will be one of the slowest on the market with both Bosch and DJI leaving it behind.

Do you think spec will offer a update to bring it closer to bikes costing 1/2 the price...
Thinking like 105nm and 700w ?
That way the Sworks can still be more powerful ... but the standards models can be more competitive?

This emtb power wars is just like motorcycles, people buy 200hp bikes and brag their power but they can ride it only straight road fast, first corner comes and some local dude with 30 years old 50cc scooter goes faster.
Unsure but maybe it's the person using the machine that's the most important part

Yep, I used to ride a classic bike, 1961 500cc BSA Clubmans Gold Star, only 42 Bhp but just 325 lbs (approx. 150kg), pissed all over most overpowered/overweight modern bikes through bends and on most normal roads once it got moving!:D

Who races uphill anyway?

You must have read posts from them on here? The ones who go out riding with their buddies and disappear off up the hill and then wait at the top for their ‘mates’ to catch up? 😂

Or the ones who post about how they’re getting ‘KOM after KOM’, seemingly oblivious to the fact it’s because they’ve now got a more powerful motor.

It’s like claiming I’ve just got a PB on my latest dog walk because I did it on a quad bike…

It’s becoming a strange old world in EMTB land, seems to be getting further and further away from mountain biking all the time, never mind development of bikes, tyres, brakes or suspension (heck, even geometry), it’s about motor power now for a lot of folks.

BITD I used to take great pleasure in hunting down Fireblades on my NC30 and I once passed a ZZR1100 round the outside with my girlfriend on the back... :ROFLMAO: Cool story, right?

TBF I'd be quite happy with a motor more powerful than my EP8 just in case, but I'd still be riding in eco 90% of the time.

I'd be more happy with a belt drive and mgu though!

Think Specialised have dropped a ball on their latest Levo , it's now falling behind the competition and has a fugly fat downtube. Ive jumped ship and bought an Amflo, couldn't be happier :) just wish they made it in some more inspiring colours !

Agree, it's not a good looking bike and hasn't got anything different. The Amflow OTOH; great spec and price, best VFM currently. It's a mystery why some brands don't do a brighter colour option, same with motorcycles - black, grey or white, not exactly exciting!

Don't you get it, Specialized made it this way so you shouldn't buy it, they don't like you 😫

Just curious why downtubes have become so large on bikes these days. I am sure that proportions and aesthetics are subjective but hey, what the heck?

I have a 2022 Kenevo Expert and love it, so different to nearly all the new bikes. I tried a brand new Levo 4 and Specialized tried to persuade me to get rid of the Kenevo and buy a new Levo, considering its supposed to be a huge step forward, I just wasn't convinced and wasnt as fun as my Kenevo. So I have decided to upgrade my Kenevo with an EST E-STORIA v4 and an ohlins dh38 and few other toys and just continue enjoying the beast. I know my motor is now slow and lacks range to newer bikes, but as others have said in this tread it's not all about speed and getting up the mountain as fast as possible, it's the journey up and down and the experience. Every time I look at my bike I smile, and this happiness inspires me to get out a ride more and enjoy it.

Yep , archery equipment did the same , hence the compound and where it is landed now. Funny though a heavy following going back to the simplicity of the recurve and longbow.

Which Levo 4 you running? Sell it to me and go for a Bosch bike 😜

Expert carbon…. Will sell when my Vala arrives mid September.
That is a sweet bike. Just to break it down though, you are willing to take a bit of a bath over 90w of power and 1 less nm of torque? You're also losing 240wh of battery capacity and will likely end up with worse spec for the money. I'd ride that Levo and be super happy with it.

On paper, yes ... but have some friends I ride with on Orbea with the updated bosh and it out climbs the levo on steep technical terrain .... the "Natural" is just to Natural. (which is most of my riding ... if. you live in JHB think riding UP poffadder at van gaalens)
Put a range extender on for the 30% of the time I need it and I have close to the same battery capacity as the levo....

Still think my gen 3 rides better

I thought this after a few Minutes on this new Gen 4...

It is interesting to see the comments about the general qualities of the bike from individuals that have ridden the new version. The impressions seem to diverge from the narrative that dedicated mountain bike youtube channels and their prominent promoters present, including a recent shootout claiming it top spot.
