New Bosch Decoy incoming?

Looks like every bike on the site has a status of either out of stock or shipping from August 8th. You would hope they would suspend ordering on the site until things are clearer.

He ordered his bike at the end June, there was still plenty of stock for everything showing back then. I feel bad because I was the one that showed him the sale🤣😂 luckily he paid with a CC and will be doing a chargeback.

A cynical view might be a flash sale was to get some emergency funds, knowing what was coming and they wouldn’t have to pay back or deliver goods on. Not my view obvs, a cyclical one.

Behaviour like that email, above can leave a very sour taste in the mouth and future buyers are likely to be very wary.

Apparently everyone that had a bike on order got the same email, it’s across a couple of different forums that I’m on now. Someone else just ordered a bike last week only to get the email today!!

I agree with you though, it’s looking like that may be the case. I was reading that someone supposedly in the “know” said they need about $10 million to save the company and the restructure isn’t going to work.

Jesus what a mess. I guess I won't be holding on to see the Bosch YT after all. Time to find another option.

YT Industries GmbH has initiated a legal restructuring process under German law, entering into self-administration to secure the company's future.

In a press release from YT Industries, the German-based brand said "despite strong global growth and a loyal customer base", it has been "severely impacted by the global discounting battle in the bike industry, problems with suppliers and uncertainty in the US market related to tariff policies." YT Industries said it was "compelled" to enter legal restructuring proceedings under self-administration as the company has "no further funding available under the current structure."

Markus Flossmann, founder and CEO of YT Industries, said it was "not an easy step for YT, but a necessary measure to actively shape the future of the brand." Flossmann added: "We are already in discussions with potential new partners and are confident that we'll be back on track soon."

Bit of waffle here from the founder, especially the bit about operating normally , well not if you have ordered a bike and paid for it and it has not been delivered , per
Hello Young Talent,

We regret to inform you that, due to ongoing insolvency proceedings, your order xxx has been put on hold. As your payment was received before the proceedings officially began, it is legally considered part of the insolvency estate.

At this stage, we are unable to issue refunds or provide further details about the status of your payment. We understand how frustrating and disappointing this situation is, especially without a clear resolution.

If you wish to explore your options, we recommend reaching out to your payment provider to inquire about potential next steps.

We truly regret that we cannot offer you a better solution at the moment, and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely, Your YT Industries Team

The emails only went out to people in the EU/UK because they’re the only ones getting screwed, it’s business as usual for the North American division apparently. Markus was technically correct in that video, just didn’t specify which continent. It was still a super shady cash grab IMO, probably sold off everything to pay their creditors while their customers will get screwed.

yes easy to forget your home market , EU , ;) , I hope everyone affected gets either their money back or the bike they ordered , but it's hard to build a reputation but easy to destroy it , this kinda feels like that for alot of people , I had an order originally for a DECOY , when it was 50% off but thankfully decided not to go ahead , bought a rail gen 5 instead , cheaper and from a LBS i drove to and collected myself.

Sorry mr FOUNDER that’s not good enough , poor little Johnny has been been saving his pocket money for 2years and thought he’d brought his dream bike with cash . He is now inconsolable and will never buy any YT industries product again ……..cheers !

Mr Founder is not doing bad :

That's some rare find Porschaaa there so the only one struggling is poor Johnny boy looking to ride a bike this summer not only dreams.

I have ridden a Decoy 29 for 4 years. The original chassis was really amazing, reliable so I can understand the strategy to update it instead of starting from a blank canvas again. Bosch sounds like a solid choice. The newer 720Wh battery was weighting the front a little bit too much compared to the original 540Wh imho so I hope the balance is better with the Bosch 800Wh.
My main complaints were the cable ports which seems to have been improved on the image above and the proprietary mini bottle which is still here unfortunately. I can fit a 950ml bottle on my KSL.
The 800wh bosch allows for such a significantly lower center of gravity than a 720 wh battery? Isn't this rather unlikely. And yes: big batteries are bad for handling.

Looks like it

Seems a bit ridiculous to me to push ahead with a bike release when you just announced last week that your main entity is facing bankruptcy. There's still a lot of European customer that have been left without a bike and without a refund. As of now it still looks like they are taking orders on the EU site also. Bit of a shitshow.

yes smack in the face for people with orders not fulfilled , at the end of the creditor queue , if that is the position that they are now in - UK , Europe for sure currently.
I would not risk ordering a bike from them, nearly did when it was 50% off , why would you in the current situation with no guarantee you will get it , elt alone a refund , unless you paid by CC , Think in a lot of peoples views their credibility is a bit shot , after receiving that email
Hopefully everyone gets their bikes or a refund , cant see many people putting confidence in YT, Live uncaged

Its the german insolvency law. The company now operates under a sheme defined by law with the goal to save it from going down. So even if YT wanted they couldn't pay back or deliver bikes before they declared bankcrupcy. But from that date on they can operate and sell stuff as long until an investor is found or it stays afloat by itself through the appointed director by law or it goes down.

Similar stuff recently happened to Hibike or that US ebike brand I can't remember the name of and also Orange I think. Nukeproof aswell. And the outcomes are mixed but some brands do recover or find a new investor. But the current environment is not too good.

hence why would you buy a bike from them , whilst the company is operating under those constraints , with no guarantee that ultimately you are going to a) get a bike , b) get a refund , c) the hopefully new configured company will exist to honour an valid warranty if you purchase currently.

Only if you believe in them surviving and that you buy the bike with a credit card or paypal so that you get you money back in case the bike doesn't get delivered. I don't want anyone to loose their money.

I'm just pointing out the legal difference between for how Yt is operating before and after the day they declared insolvency. For now the company can do 'business as usual' in the sense that the legal attorney appointed by a court will oversee things and handle the case until its clear if the company can be saved by itself or by an investor and what happens if either case materializes.

So for people who ordered stuff before that day they have to wait if Yt recovers and hopefully get a chargeback. If you want to buy something, especially smaller stuff like water bottles, you will likely recieve them if they have them in stock now and in the near future. Just make sure you pay with something like credit card or paypal.

I'm in a similar situation with a e commerce bike shop went bankrupt a few months ago. It was bought by another company and they operate normally again. But they said as they are now a different legal entity they are not bound to honor my warranty or my voucher I had. If my bike has a problem I would have to go via specialized directly or a dealer of them (this is a special case because if the shop would take on specialized as a brand again they would most likely be handling warranty claims for specialize aswell but I don't have legal means to push them to do it now as the old company ceased to exist legally).

With Yt this could play out differently. In the case there is an investor or they save themselves in theory they could fulfill their backorders retroactively. But its not very likely because first and foremost the attorney leading the business now will try to run the company moving existing stock to generate profit to pay the employees and the bills to keep it afloat.

When everything fails and the company goes under everything will be sold and the revenue will be distributed among b2b and private buyers. Usually the privat buyers come last and might then get little to no payout. This process also might take a long time.

Huge ad on pinkbike for the decoy release coming on the 24th.

Wonder of the contracted out the marketing effort and don't have to pay for that now either...

Will this potential bike, be available also for european customers or only for other markets?
The EU site has certain bikes in stock and it appears they are still taking orders for them so I assume the new Decoy will be available. It’s a shitshow from YT though. They need to be communicating more, especially to the people on the hook left without either a bike or a refund.

Buy on credit card if at all, then at least there is chargeback protection for UK consumers but good luck if you break the frame or need any proprietary component replacing with a company that's potentially about to disappear.

Buy it, but expect nothing, so you won't be disappointed. 🤣
I see what you did there :) , but really why risk it , when they are offerings and deals from solvent bike brands , unless you wanna live - un-caged from your cash and your bike and warranty ( Potentially) :cautious:

any frame with a DJI or equivalent (mahle?) ad a slim battery will sell like hot cakes (with chocolate).
I hardly understand why manufacturer keep on building bikes that don't sell well (i.e. prego downtubes, massive battery, outdated technology).
Bosch doesnt give a shit about riders nor emtb. They stated riders needed what is easy (and profitable) for them to build /sell. Now, they are roasted, ans so will manufacturers who follow this trend.

For YT, i cross fingers, sincerely. Anything else than a Dji YT enduro emtb will be their doom.

We've already seen it's a Bosch with a big belly, and regardless they are probably doomed...

The bike industry as a whole is in very deep shit rn, mostly because of covid aftereffects/too much inventory but also the other global economic and political developments aren't helping.

No bikes currently sell like hotcakes. A quick search brings up plenty of stock. Could buy any Amflow frame size and version close to me today. The thing is that during 21 and 22 bikes sold like hotcakes and many people's bike sheds and the new and used market is now oversaturated with new or lightly used bikes. The average non-forum nerd boomer doesn't know shit about Amflow. In germany they most likely prefer Bosch but that's irrelevant now because people only will buy so much ebikes. Not everyone is an enthusiast who buys a new bike every season or has like 10 bikes.

Leave out the Fanboysm for DJI and prove some facts :

Bosch is reliable
Bosch is easy to repair in case that it eventually fail

I personality don't need to race up the hill so any bike thay had 100Nm is moreee than enough for anyone.

Bike geometry is much more important than some silly turbo. Factss

When my Bosch motor failed under warranty, at first they didn't believe me, leaving the bike in an approved Bosch distributor for 6 weeks. Then they finally conceded, and agreed to check the motor for faults, which required the motor to be removed and shipped to another state. Then they agreed it was faulty and sent a new motor to the shop, though I had to pay for labour and postage (!) of the new motor from interstate.

Specialized have replaced the motor on several bikes on the same day, in the same place, free of charge and questions.

My DJI motor has been faultless.

Even moreeee Factsssssss.
