Hi all been on the ebike wagon about 6 weeks now. Bought a gen 4 levo because spesh don’t really make bad bikes and warranty with them is good. Which for me is great as mine might need a new motor! maybe I’m the first in the uk, who knows but time will tell. Bikes seem plenty of racing in those few weeks and will see plenty more

What happened with a motor?

Bike is a lemon sadly. Lots of folks having battery power shorts, including myself. Less than 2 weeks in and bike cuts out with “no battery detected” at least a couple times/ride. Have to remove, reseat battery once or twice to get power back on. Battery harness already adjusted per work order by dealer 1 week ago and problem seems worse. Bike back to dealer tomorrow. If not fixed, Spesh suggested a warranty claim. All fine and good, just dont like the fact they lied to me on phone saying they never heard of this issue before and nobody has had an issue riding theirs at Spesh headquarters. They is a whole FB thread on shorting Levo4’s. Sounds like someone got hand on updated, newly designed battery harness that may resolve problem. I am waiting while on a lemon in the meantime and going through the hoops with this. Sad, cause bike is very fun to ride and can almost anything on trail

why i went DJI and not gen 4
Yep, new Brose motor promosing with no belts and plastic and power is great, mostly natural feeling. But if bike cant stay on during course of ride, it is no good. Never buying a sideloading/easy removeable battery again. I should of known better from all the issues I had on my Rail prior

Tell me about it. Canyon with a 900w battery, and it wont stay on. EP801 replaced, 3 wiring harnesses, and a recall and stop ride on the battery. Great natural feeling bike when it works, most days it does not. Canyon sucks and Shimano is right there too.

Eek! Yeah, these companies really should test their products better. Spesh saying they tested the Levo4 for a long time before releasing, like years is weak

They do actually. I live and ride where their research and development dpt is.

But final production is never the same as what they tested.

I was going to do their brand but with all the gen 4 issues im passing. Your point credible.

Think about it, Canyon trash, Shimano junk, Brose having issues, and stupid people are wondering why DJI is selling like hotcakes.

Yep, Bosch and possibly DJI the only reliable systems out there these days. Yeah, Shimano is junk. All my buddies had issues with theirs. Bosch/non-removeable battery the way go. Too bad only 600 on SC bikes since I am not a range extender person myself and system with cords dangling looks dicey

Who do you call when you need DJI parts for your motor or Amflow frame......China?

Im sorry comprehension and knowledge are required to play. An official Amflow dealer is opening in USA in 2 weeks. In your state no less!

And if I did have to get dJI parts in China, its better than Shimano who has ZERO support for older motors. You cannot buy a single part for a Shimano EP8000. Not even a replacement motor!

So learn before you speak.
Thanks for setting me straight....I now know that there's nothing better than a DJI motor because Bike Den will soon be selling them......

I now know
DJI is a decent choice, not the best. It is why so many people are jumping on the band wagon.

So far DJI support has been very good in UK, no reason it will not be the same here.

I just went through the ringer with Shimano, so you can go preach elsewhere about name brand. That and Gen 4 Levo are having a lot of shutting off issues with no real fix at this time. DJI are only getting a few comebacks, a pretty low percentage. But you know it all already.

Bike Barn in Phoenix AZ ask for Greg great guy so far. and you sound like you know Mary? so what gives?

I don't know where this "Shimano is junk" consensus is coming from, but I sure hope my EP801 system remains as trouble-free as it has been for the past 800km or so 🤞

Shimano batteries in Canyons were all recalled.

Mine was worst after 1000 miles when shut off problems began, both other friends have had their bikes shutting down. If you researched you would find it is common for the ep801

I put 5000 miles a year on mine, nothing but troubles. Motor replaced once, wiring 3 times, and battery is in the mail. all first year. Buddy #1 has had his wiring replaced once. Buddy #2 rides less, just had his shut off first time, his bike fairly new still maybe 500 miles

But those are not Shimano batteries, they are custom produced for Canyon (by Dengfu?). My Bullit uses Shimano's original 630Wh battery and like I said - so far so good. Hate reading about your motor and wiring problems, sincerely hope my system stays unproblematic. Guess it depends on how much you ride, I'm very far from your 5000 miles/year.

I am having the same problem as you, about 300km on bike. Dropping at Dealer tonight, very disappointing. What is the name of the facebook thread on this problem?

not Shimano batteries
There is connection to Trendpower and Shimano, because the batteries have all the Shimano electronics and trouble code sequences, that and as stated if the battery fails, Shimano has to replace it. Now for a safety recall it then becomes Canyons responsibility, which then falls back on Shimano. I hope your EP801 is trouble free. So far we have all had junk Canyons that shut off while riding which all falls on Shimano..

Wont let me transfer post over from FB. Still there, started 6/12. About a handful or so folks at least with same issue. I just picked up my G4 from dealer after bringing it back following the battery harness adjustment “fix” the week prior. Power shorts with “no battery detected” errors in red on screen to follow, even a bit worse than before. Dealer filed warranty claim today in my behalf and I grabbed the bike. If not fully resolved soon, I will be asking for a refund from Spesh and moving on. Sad, cause bike is fun to ride when working properly
